So I was wondering if my skill had increased after the gundam project. I was quite surprised that I can now draw without having to pay attention to references as much as before. I was also able to draw much faster. I’d say I can get a traditional drawing done in 3 days at the longest. On the downside though it seems like I chose the wrong paper (sketch paper). This, to my dismay meant that I had quite a good amount of complications. The Copic markers did not blend like I wanted, almost not at all. This caused a lot of problems. Many of the skills I had gathered did not seem to reach it’s full potential. Most of it came out great in the end except the sky, For one, the colors did not match with the rest of the drawing. And I couldn’t fix it traditionally since that wasn’t really an option. So I had rely on Photoshop. I actually had plans to try and make art that was a mixture of both traditional and digital.
This will probably take me a while to fully master, but it should be well worth it.
This drawing and character is made for another competition that I will enter.

UPDATE: Well, it seems like the moderator has deactivated his/her account so I can’t even post this drawing in the comments section…
Well that sucks.
Oh well, this means that I can instead start working on some other projects. This was a learning experience, yeah a learning experience. I didn’t waste any of my time at all. (“Yeah, that’s it. Keep telling yourself that”). In all seriousness, I did want to join the competition, but oh well. I did finally start the traditional x digital technique development, so it’s ok.
This drawing is now finished, so I will now work on some new things, There are 6 other characters I will be drawing for this contest, I want each one to have it’s own personality and feel so I will be thinking about each one. I just don’t want to take too long though… I will just have to use the right paper this time.
UPDATE: Will stop this now, and instead work on some original work I wanted to do. And there is another competition that I am even more interested in. So I will join that.
Hasta la proxima,
