How to Draw Challenge – Flandre Scarlet
Request by: Marcus Mosley
A definite improvement to the first Flandre drawing I made on my old channel. I wanted to combine many different elements using a cosplayer, figure and many reference pictures. I really loved the eyes done on the cover of “Scarlet Eyes”, it screamed of Banpai Akira (I wonder who the artist was thought).
In my mind I wanted to give her a face of delight but still give a sense of creepiness or strangeness about it. I was imagining that in the background there was destruction, which is why I decided to go with such expressions. Of course the drawing could go either way. By darkening the eyes the theme would become darker and by putting some light she could just be happy about anything really (something considered “normal” maybe). I had an urge to leave her without shading but I felt it would eventually feel incomplete.

How to Draw Challenge – Belldandy
Request by: xSTiLLo
This brings back memories, this was one of the first anime’s I have seen (well one of the first after I knew what anime was, anyway). I do not really remember much about it other than it was about a guy who likes motorcycles and who one day stumbles upon Belldandy a goddess who somehow was stranded on earth. From there the story progresses with the introduction of Belldandy’s “sisters”? Sorry it has been a long time since I last saw it (I was a kid really…), I’m amazed I could remember this much.
Anyway I did some research and have come to realize that my memory was off, as it turn out he calls her through a telephone service and makes her stay with him forever, thus giving the cause to why Belldandy is with Keiichi in the first place (yes it is all coming back to me now… or is it?)
For this drawing I used an action figure for the pose and took it from there. I decided to put a bit more effort into this one since I noticed I was lacking on the others. And overall I am glad I did. The more I see the final piece the more I like it.

How to Draw Challenge – Habaek
Request by: inrisusingenuity
And here we have a character from Bride of the Water God, a Manwha. I have not read it before but apperantly the plot is that a young girl is married off to to a water god since they were not getting rain in their village. From there the story seems to develop. (Habaek is the water god by the way).
I had no idea how to do this request since it turns out that he has a child and adult form. In the end I decided to go for the adult form since I thought it looked cooler. And it also helped that I found a nice reference picture thanks to a cosplayer I found online.

How to Draw Challenge – Lucy
Request by: monstermash012
This is the request for the ever so popular Lucy from Elfen Lied. This series has always been recommended to me but I seriously cannot bring myself to do so because it is so gory and from the series descriptions I have read, well they scare me off. Of course I understand that there is much more than just gore and death. For instance (from what I understood after reading a lot of reviews and story descriptions) it seems to touch upon what is really being human, what is truly good and bad, bonds made by beings and a lot of more profound themes. I am not saying it is not an amazing series, I am just not interested.
The drawing over all was done using a cosplayer and some references of Lucy I found in the internet. Although the drawing itself is not bad, I feel I should have put more details to make it even better. I’ll definitely go ahead and fix it soon.

How to Draw Challenge – Yoite and Miharu
Request by: hazman354
I do not know much about this series other than it’s about ninjas… (series is called Nabari no Ou, by the way)
The drawing did not really give me much problems, but as mentioned in the comments section I did mess up Yoite’s hand, it really looks weird. I am sure with a bit of shading and restructuring I will be able to fix it without a problem. Truthfully since Yoite was last and time was running short I failed to give him the time needed to produce a good overall drawing. I’ll have to keep it in mind so as not to do that again (although it most likely will).

How to Draw Challenge – Luo Tianyi (COLORED)
Request by: DOGChels
And so this the second installment of the Luo Tianyi video… “In Color!” I recently obtained a set of 50 color pencils so my array of colors has grown a bit (finally). I am still unpleased with the way my coloring comes out. The time I borrowed my skills from Banpai Akira the drawing came out amazingly good, but I still have not been able to replicate it on my own. This time I tried to use a different style (that is a bit more plain but is much easier to use). Despite that I feel it needs a bit more effort. I’ll keep making more videos but I want to try to master my coloring style so that it comes out flawlessly. I hope you guys will come with me on this adventure to master the “color”.

This is the design for the winning entry for the very first Chinese Vocaloid. I seriously like it. Hmmm, it seems that I made the skirt a little too long… but hopefully you guys won’t mind?

How to Draw Challenge – Maria Ushiromiya
Add another video to my old videos list, this is from my old channel. It actually looks rather good despite being from last year. I was told that the series is rather good, so far I have seen some of the recommended series and I’ve liked them a lot so maybe I should give this one a try.

How to Draw Challenge – Zero Kiryu (COLORED)
request by: inrisusingenuity
Sorry for the long time it took to write a description. Now Overall the coloring does not look bad but I can’t help but feel that there is still a lot more potential that can be applied to make this drawing even better, but I wan to get to the point that I can do it efficiently without taking the amount of time I believe it would take me to achieve the desired quality. I can’t help but feel rather disappointed at my current skills.

Sorry I had to skip another day to post a video this week, but I was so tired I wasn’t able to do it in time. Which is why I thought it would just be best to post it today. I have noticed that most of my videos have now started to get broken in two. I truly believed that it would just be temporary but seeing as I am now able to put more details into my drawings I think I will just keep doing it this way (specially since requests have dwindled). This will benefit you the viewer in a number of ways, two of them being that I won’t make the videos too fast, so that you may see the movements and learn and that you will have plenty of time to practice each part for about half a week before the next installment goes on air.
Now for this drawing as you can see (if you go through the whole video you should be able to notice it), I was not able to fully anticipate what my whole plan was. I kept changing things here and there throughout, so if you are following every movement I suggest that you please see it once first so that you can know ahead of time what lines and figures will not be needed. Also at some point during the video you can notice when I ran out of memory and my camera stopped filming, when I finally notice I had to erase my progress and redraw it so that you may see it. Let me know if you can find that scene.
I will continue to explain more in the next video.
Hope you enjoy it,
