Nube vs. Corona V.

As the whole world is trying to deal with the Corona Virus pandemic I felt I should at least make one piece about it. I just sketched some ideas and began painting as soon as I felt the idea was close enough. I really wanted to make another piece with ガしガし‘s style again. I was debating whether to make Corona’s image more closely related to the virus itself or make one up based on the name Corona. So I did the latter. Just after finishing it, I decided to add some saliva and dark shadows to Corona V.

Stay inside everyone, let’s end this virus together.

Asuka Kato miniskirt

I finally did a painting of Asuka Kato from Watamote. I really like the way she tries to get closer to Kuroki, even to the point of giving Kuroki’s weirdness a pass. I am a bit weary that she will get corrupted by her but I think there won’t be another Kii-chan incident (I’m sure Kuroki won’t let that happen again). She’s just such a nice genuine person. Plus she’s gorgeous.

The drawing was done for the 17th day of Inktober 2019. It was painted with Corel Painter except for the snow which was done with Photoshop using a combination of the scatter brush options and then using a special effects brush. I quite like how it turned out.

This painting has three versions. The original drawing painted of course. And then two versions of her holding an umbrella, one with snow and one without.

Asuka Scornful Eyes

This is a colored version of the Inktober drawing I did on the 22nd day of 2019. I used the reference picture for the background and colors. I found it easier to simplify the colors. I guess that comes with experience huh. I was going to start painting it with Photoshop but the paint effects from Corel Painter are more my style. I really like the way they blend and react to one another.

Berserk Eva 01 COLOR

This is a colored version of the 9th inktober piece I drew in 2019. I wasn’t too sure what the coloring style would be, but it eventually evolved into this one.

Aiming for no. 1

This is a colored version of the first inktober piece of 2019. I was wondering what kind of coloring styles would work with a piece that has quite a bit of hatching. But first I wanted to come up with a background. Since this is a piece of myself I decided to make the background my studio. I wanted to work with a simple background but still keep the idea of what it’s supposed to be. I would say it’s like impressionism. It was quite fun trying to recreate my room and liked the way it came out. Now the next thing is trying to match the painting in the background. I decided to go with a simple  painting style like that of anime. When I was done painting I noticed that the colors were much too vibrant and dark so I went and modified the colors and vibrancy in Photoshop. I quite like the way it came out.

Sakuya Izayoi Pouring tea for the master

This was originally painted on August 9, 2019.

But I did edit quite a few details today.

I actually drew the underdrawing of Sakuya on May 10, 2012 with color pencils (video can be found here). The style is based on Banpai Akira’s style used for the Koumajou Densetsu: Scarlet Symphony game. I like the way I drew it at the time but wanted to repaint it when I had better skills. I also wanted to add a background.

It was about 7 years in the making but I finally gave it a shot. I used a reference picture of a mansion as the underpainting base. The photo only showed a section of the room so I had to learn and make up the rest of the room based on the information I could see. It took a lot of time to finish the background but I did learn a lot. By the time I had painted Sakuya and the background I was mentally drained and wanted to take a break and move on to another piece. I noticed I made her arms and hands quite long and the hair too big/long? But I decided to come back to it at a later date. I’ve been swamped with the end of the semester schoolwork and I’m pretty much almost done now, so I wanted to upload some more artwork.

This is the background used (awesome, seems I can post internet photos from pinterest here now):

I was about to just upload it as it was but decided to edit the defects today. I shortened her hair and changed the dimensions of her hand and arm. I also worked with the lighting on her body to try and have her fit more to the background.

Here is the final painting:

Booette

This was originally drawn in September 28, 2018. I also painted it beforehand on October 1st, 2018 (seen here, quite embarrassing looking at it now).

I didn’t quite like the way I painted it the last time. So on April 29, 2019 after practicing with color and painting I decided to give it another try. At that point I stumbled upon the works of Takato Yamamoto. I fell in love with his work and use of simple colors to create amazing pieces. That’s when I decided to try and paint Booette in a simple color scheme with a minimal amount of colors. Although the styles are no where near the same and I was still learning about how colors interact with each other, I really liked the way it turned out. I wanted to add more color to it, but I stopped my self as best I could. Now that I feel more confident with color I wonder how it would turn out?

Guts One Eyed Berserker Armor

This is another piece piece from Inktober that I wanted to do more work on (it can be seen here). I originally was thinking of inking it all traditionally but when I finished the lineart and was erasing my pencil marks, I was a bit careless which led me to fold it and rip the paper. Having done that I thought it was a great chance to work with Krita again.

I had already inked the berserker armor before, but having done the full armor (minus the left leg) took quite a long time. I can’t even imagine how much it takes to do this for a whole chapter. Specially when drawing multiple characters or detailed backgrounds. After inking and hatching Guts and his armor I decided to use the texture brushes for the background which made the work go much faster. It looked good by the end but I decided to darken the whole piece which I think made it look better.

One thing I wasn’t planning on doing was the helmet. But when looking through the manga I came upon the section when Guts was being consumed by the armor and you could see the head of his inner beast taking form from the cape. I am surprised I don’t remember this scene since it is quite remarkable and stunningly drawn. I’m really glad I found out about it because I feel the overall piece I drew looks much better.

Momoko Tsugunaga Goth Lolita Anime X Toon

This will be the second piece I will be uploading from the paintings I have done over the last couple of months but still haven’t uploaded yet. I really wanted to practice simple color schemes so this one was one of those attempts.

It’s a shame we don’t hear about Momochi ever since she became a teacher but I’m glad she is following her goals and doing well. I wish her all the best. I’m just really glad there is a lot of media out there of her, it would really suck if there wasn’t.

This painting was done using a reference from some scans I found online of Momo Play. I wanted to try out the Anime X Cartoon style again so I went with that. It was drawn first with my pen then I painted it with Photoshop.

Originally drawn on 8/7/19 and painted on 8/8/19.

Obscurus AnimeXCartoon

It’s been snowing and raining where I live this week. I really love the rain, which is why I decided to make a piece with that as the theme. It’s been a while since I last drew Obscurus Nube so wanted to draw him again. This time I wanted to try a simple AnimeXCartoon style like Sh1tty  ‘s. I think if I push it a bit more to the anime style it will look more like the 80s anime style which was more round and soft. By making the darker shades with hatching I can just use one color base and it will still look good. I now know I can emulate real life. There are somethings I still have to learn and master but I think doing stylized artwork will make my art standout more and will be better over all.

Drawn, inked with my G-pen, colored with my COPICs and then made the background with Photoshop.

This is Obscurus from my story “Between Light and Darkness”:

Kojiro Hyuga Tiger Shot

Captain Tsubasa 2018 is over… Hopefully they will continue animating the rest of the story, it would be a shame if they stopped here. The fight between Hyuga and Tsubasa was really entertaining and really pumped me up as I watched it in the gym. When they revealed Hyuga’s Tiger shot I got goosebumps. They did a really good job to show the power and strength behind Hyuga’s shot. No question about it, Hyuga is definitely my favorite character of Captain Tsubasa.

I really like the aesthetic of giving the idea of power and movement by using hatching and rough lines, it really blends well together with color.

Riku KHII Bust

Whenever I have time I have been playing through the Kingdom Hearts series before I go ahead and play Kingdom Hearts III. So far I have finished the original, saw the 358/2 days scenes, I started playing Chain of memories but it was quite straining so I went ahead and saw the scenes on youtube. Anyway I finished Kingdom Hearts II about two weeks ago. And I gotta say, the design for Riku in Kingdom Hearts II was definitely the best version so far. I’ve seen his design in Kingdom Hearts III and so far KHII is still the best. Both with the cloak and the his normal clothes.

As a side note, after finishing Kingdom Hearts II I decided to go back to Chain of Memories and slug through it. I really don’t like quitting. I’m almost done with Sora’s section then there should be a short section where I play as Riku.

Here is the finished piece done with my G pen and my Copics:

I made a quick background with Photoshop and Corel Painter:

That should be all for now.
