How to Draw Challenge – Nue Houjuu

This is a video from my old account. I believe it to be one of the few gems that came out back then. The only complaint I may have is that I made her body bend a bit too much. Hopefully it won’t cause her a problem when standing and posing.

Hope you enjoy it,

How to Draw Challenge – Dante (COLOR)

request by: MrEndcraft

Devil may cry is a game I have had the urge to play and yet have still not had the chance to do so, which is kind of ridiculous if I really think about it. As soon as I have some spare money I am definitely purchasing the series (luckily the most of the games should have a big discount by now).

Despite not playing the games yet, I have taken notice of Dante and the Devil May Cry series. I have always thought that they looked extremely cool and interesting after I saw a friend playing the game, I believe it was the second one in the series. It was so long ago I do not remember clearly.

Anyway here is another drawing request and I truly hope you guys enjoy it. I really like the hairstyle Dante used when he was younger although that one strap that only covers his chest takes a bit to get used to. I’ve noticed that most of my request have red in them…

Hope you enjoy it,

How to Draw Challenge – Black Rock Shooter (COLOR)

It is finally here, my interpretation of Black Rock Shooter. This character/series has had quite a bit of a following, so much so that it’s amazing. The story of how it all began is just as great or even greater than that of the Touhou Project. It all started with the individual work of one man that all flourished into something so magnificent and amazing. To have just one drawing inspire a song and later a whole array of adaptations including anime, games and figures is just amazing. I can clearly understand why it happened, though. After all when I saw drawings and videos of Black Rock Shooter my curiosity was always awakened. I was just facinated by the design of both the character and the background.

When I saw the OVA I was blown away, it was really owning up to all it’s hype. Now I know that there are alot of people who dissagree and believe the OVA or the series for that matter isn’t that special, all I can say about that is, to each their own. Next stop is watching the series, but I want to leave it alone until a couple of episodes have already gone up. I like to watch it marathon style.

My interpretation is made up of action figures, original and fan made renditions of Black Rock Shooter. I really liked the blue hue on her hair ( which is apparent in the figures) so I decided to add that in. I was kind of having a bit of hard time deciding whether or not to incorporate the blue flame, but I seriously wanted to show her eyes which is why I ended up omitting it. Back grounds are something I still have not been incorporating yet (and the main reason is the time it would take), but I really want to do so, even if just a little like I did with this drawing in the very bottom.

Hope you enjoy it,

How to Draw Challenge – Yuki (pureblood) -+- Zero (Double Feature)

For the first video of the month we have a special double feature. These drawings were on my last channel, I truly think they came out great. And I hope you guys do as well.

I know that Vampire Knight is a shoujou manga, but I do not shy away from trying them out (especially if the artwork is captivating like this series). Even so, there are some that are a bit too girly and “strange” for me (to those who read shoujou manga, you know what I mean). But Vampire Knight is probably my favorite shoujou manga right now, the story, characters and most of all the artwork are amazing. The first time I enven noticed Vampire Knight was when I saw a picture of Yuki in a magazine, I was captivated right away. I later found out that she was from a manga series, as soon as I started reading I was hooked. It should be very apparent that my favorite pair is Yuki and Zero.

I plan to make a new drawing with both of these characters again so I hope you look forward to it.

Hope you enjoy it,

How to Draw Challenge – Erza Scarlet (COLOR)

Request by: Killer1984able

I am happy to announce that for todays video we will be drawing, Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail a series that I truly enjoy reading. Erza definitely has what I look for in a women; strong, smart, brave, nice and not afraid to kick ass. Not to mention her amazing looks and proportions. One of my favorite things about her abilities are the forms she takes and the control of the swords (remind me alot of Kingdom Hearts, my all time favorite game series). I think that favorite form definitely has to be the “Heaven’s Wheel Armor”, in fact I was really tempted to draw her in that form. But I just couln’t help but fall for her in a maid costume. Which is how I drew her.

After looking for some references I noticed the anime version and renditions from fans when it came to the colors and designs were a bit different. But I liked the manga design since it had more details and I liked the coloring a fan did on one of Hiro Mashima’s drawings from the manga. I felt that the red in the skirt really brought the image out more than using more black or dark colors.

It’s kind of sad but you can’t really see all the quality of the drawing through the camera’s lens, it really looks much better when you look at it in person. Hopefully when I scan it, the image will showcase its true beauty (I’ll be posting some more of the drawings that I have drawn so far on my page).

Hope you enjoy it,

How to Draw Challenge – CUL

Request by: ChelsDOG

We will once again be drawing a Vocaloid. This time, it is CUL. From the information I read about her, it seems that she became popular after hosting a couple of things and has gone through some changes since then. Namely her clothes. If one sees her original design then one gets to see that it went from a plain dress to this rather cool and detailed design. I really like it.

Hope you enjoy it,

How to Draw Challenge: Black Star

Request by: key1197

Before I begin, I would like to apologize for taking a week off. I was working on a very important project and it took me alot more than I expected. But now that I am back I will be uploading videos as much as I can. starting of course with the requests.

To start things off I will be drawing Black Star. Now I was only given the name Black Star so hopefully I got the right character. When searching the internet for references I got a lot of diversity of images, seeing as this black star had the highest amount of appearence (for the anime catergory anyway). I went ahead and drew this guy. I had heard of Soul Eater before but have not read nor seen the anime until just this week. I gotta say the artwork is interesting. I really liked the halloween motif that the background carries, but like most manga and anime’s these days, it seems to rely alot on fan service (I know that isn’t a bad thing, but I seriously prefer good story to fan service any day). The story isn’t too bad, I guess it is mostly for laughs but I just didn’t get too into it after reading the first volume. I’ll check at least two more volumes and see where it goes from there, after all, most series start off slow and rough until eventually they begin to pick up speed and get amazingly good.

Hope you enjoy it,

How to Draw Challenge: The Twentieth – Sakutarou

Request by: gloomblastvideo I had this drawing on my old channel and was asked to put it up again. I was supposed to see the anime that this character came from but I never did. I seriously should check it out when I have the chance.

Hope you enjoy it,

My Bamboo Manga has finally arrived – First impression Review

Yesterday I finally got my long awaited Bamboo Manga. I had been waiting for this day very intently. As soon as it arrived I was eager to play with it. Like with many electronic items I had to input the drivers and programs, which was actually rather easy and did not take too long. The only thing I could complain about right away is that I could not use the tutorial at all, I even reinstalled both the Bamboo drivers/programs and also the Adobe applications (which are needed to use the wacom programs). Despite that I did not seem to have any problems at all. There are some preinstalled games in a little application named Bamboo dock (which starts automatically), the games help first time users to get a feel for the pen and the tablet. After all, most people who use such a system for the first time may have a bit of a learning curve at the beggining since it is quite different looking at the computer screen instead of looking down where you would normally be drawing.

There are also some simple drawing programs that can be used. Sure, they are simple but even so, just by seeing how much I could do with just that was amazing.

I know it kinda sucks, but this was my first try at drawing without practicing beforehand. It was made using a picture of “the Mona Lisa” as the background.

You may laugh but please, not too hard.

After finishing installing the programs and playing around with the settings for a couple of minutes I began to draw a couple of things (just figures and lines, as well as playing with the brushes). Eventually when I sort of got the feel for it, I began to draw on Open Canvas Lite (so far I like it more than Corel Painter). Here is the picture below.

When I finish my Yakumo drawing I’ll post it up (Yakumo is my favorite female character on School Rumble by the way, well alongside Eri).

I was actually surprised I would start getting the hang of drawing on the tablet so fast. There are some movements one has to beware of (otherwise the lines one would normally want will be too long, since te tablet is smaller than a normal piece of paper). Other than that it is just like drawing on paper, there are the obvious advantages of course. Like clean erasing and so on. Plus, one can save a lot of money this way as well (not having the need to buy more paint, markers, pencils, etc.) So far I really like it.

[EDIT] 12/22/12

About a year ago I did a quick report of what I thought about my new Bamboo Manga. The reason being that I seriously could not find much information about it online except for the little information Wacom provided on their website. That information was not enough though. And judging by the amounts of visits I get to my page because of this post in question, I assume it is the same for the rest of you.

I had to think quite hard of whether I should buy it or not, in the end I did. Was it worth it? It surprisingly was, it was so responsive I was actually really surprised. But of course there are some aspects that one has to get used to of course, such as looking up at the computer screen instead of looking down at your hands while drawing (this was the most challenging aspect I had to go through at the beggining). But luckily we as humans are capable of adjusting, so with practice this feeling does go away.

This video does not go in great depth, but it does provide some more information about the Bamboo Manga. I left out installation processes, as well as some real tests to see just how much one can bring out of the tablet. But the artwork in the box does give one a glimpse of what is possible if one practices dilligently enough. If you, the viewer, ask me to go into even more details about how to customize the button options, go through the installation and setup process I might consider it. But this should be a good amount of information for now.

If you happen to have any more questions go right ahead and ask.

Till next time

How to Draw Challenge: The Nineteenth – Nana

Request by: key1197

Although I have not seen nor read the series I know it is quite popular. Back when I was in high school I remembered seeing a lot of these books and also many posters on some of my favorite manga. I was asked to draw Nana, but after going through the internet and finding out a bit about the series I found out that the two main characters are named Nana. I truly hope that I chose the right character, if not then I apologize to key1197. It seems that they differentiate themselves by nana and hachi so I truly hope I drew the right person.

The scene I decided to use seems to be all over the internet and I am pretty sure it comes from one of the pages of the manga. So as to differentiate it a bit and make it my own I decided to change a couple of small things (mostly the hairstyle).

Hope you enjoy it,

– XERO
