Nube 2021 Line Art

I forgot about this drawing until I was cleaning my room today. It was part of a couple of drawings I quickly made in the course of an hour. I had no real goal, I was just drawing.

Kyōko Koizumi ‘Dunk’ Cover

I messed up last time and attributed the model for this drawing wrongly. The artist/model in the January 1985 “Dunk” magazine. Luckily I got to fix it this time around. I decided to go for a more colorful color scheme.

Miyabi Natsuyaki Birthday 2021

Happy birthday Miyabi!

Time has been a bit short lately, but I somehow managed to paint a piece in time (at least in my location) for Miyabi’s birthday. This time I’m trying out a new oil brush in photoshop from the dry oil brushes by Martina Palazzese. I quite like the texture it gives, especially to the line art. Hopefully I’ll have a bit more time to play around with it on my next painting.

I quite liked the outfit Miyabi showed on her instagram and the one Peace wore on another picture. So I decided to combine them.

Miyabi:

Peace:

Because of the lack of time today, I went with a flatter coloring style which I want to practice more and get better at. One artist whom I really look up to in this regard is Takato Yamamoto. You can see his work here:

It seems his style is called “Heisei estheticism”, sound freakin awesome.

Kyōko Koizumi ‘Dunk’ Cover line art

This is based on a cover of ‘Dunk’ featuring Haruko Sagara as Sukeban Deka Kyōko Nakamura. I drew this free hand with my pen, without a rough draft which gave a rather unfortunate facial features. I had to edit things out in order to get it all working and looking more presentable.

For those who actually visit the site, here is the unfortunate original line art:

Asuka and Rei Commemoration Line Art

The new Evangelion movie has finally been released here in the States. But I have yet to see it… This drawing is to commemorate it’s release. Really looking forward to watching it when I get a chance.

Naoko Kawai sneakers Line Art

Reference used:

On monday I was in the mood to just draw a couple of pieces with pen and no rough draft. Some were good, and others were a bit off… The original drawing of Naoko was ok, but I decided to clean it up digitally and make a simpler version by using less lines and details and rounding out some areas.

Ai no Dangan Momoko Motorcycle inked

For today’s drawing, I have Momochi in her “Ai no Dangan” outfit riding a motorcycle. There are a lot of options and possibilities when it comes to adding a background. Maybe I should try out different styles when I end up painting it.

Ai no Dangan Momoko maru pen

An ink drawing of Momochi in a biker suit from the music video “Ai no Dangan”. This mv gives me some Bubblegum Crisis vibes which might me a good idea at some point.

New Opening and Ending for the Channel

So I have been out for a bit, well only a couple of days. But fear not, I was actually working on some more work for the Artist Project. I had mentioned before that I wanted to start uploading videos up again to Youtube, but I also wanted to do new content as well. The first thing I wanted to do though was to create a new Opening and Ending for the channel. But I wanted some more interesting visuals than what I usually had by using the easy to use effects given in programs like Windows Movie Maker and the very basics of what I knew from Sony Vegas Pro. This meant that I had to sit down and actually learn some new techniques.

It sounds easy to say, but one of the reasons I wasn’t able to do it before was because I had too much information pop up. This wouldn’t be a problem if I wanted to learn from the very beginning, but since I had something specific I wanted to do I just felt like it would take too much time to get to the part I was interested in learning. Having said that, after playing around with Vegas for a couple of months now I have gotten used to the basics on my own. So once I had an idea of what I wanted to do, I just went and searched for that very thing. Thanks to this new Opening and Ending, I learned a lot of amazing things I can do with a program like Sony Vegas. Along the way I also learned a lot more techniques so that I can fully utilize Photoshop. This was a very insightful project.

I will probably make a post of the process I took to make this video in the near future, so please look forward to that.

Here is what I was working on:

This will be the new Opening and Ending for my videos. For any of you Jackie Chan fans out there, you will notice that I am paying homage to his earlier films of the 80s and 90s. Background is from the beautiful artwork from Oboro Muramasa. I couldn’t find any clean backgrounds, which sucked. But this pretty much forced me to learn some new techniques in Photoshop, so I am thankful for that. It took some time but I managed to clean them up and leave nothing but the background intact.

I took a bit of time to get to learn how to use Sony Vegas Pro and Photoshop to make this video possible. Now that I have this done I can once again start working on some new artwork and finally start uploading some Youtube videos.

There will be a couple of tweaks I will make to this intro and ending, but overall it is the finished product.

Hasta la próxima,

-Nube
