This is the background for another painting in progress. I want to do more pieces that capture the rainy weather we are experiencing where I live and the green foliage that has bloomed because of it.
One of the fun things of seeing original Dragon Ball are the references to other stories or media that Akira Toriyama likes. And now that my exposure to more media has expanded I can now see more of it whenever I rewatch Dragon Ball. One such character is the Robot Pirate that is a really cool reference to the Xenomorph from Alien. What I really like about the design is the obvious inspiration to Alien while still making an original and cool design. I knew that when I rewatched Dragon Ball about two years ago I wanted to make a parody painting. It took me two years to finally do it, but that’s just the way things work out sometimes. The scene is of course in reference to the iconic scene with Newt, moments before she was abducted by a Xenomorph.

And here we have a character from Bride of the Water God, a Manwha. I have not read it before but apperantly the plot is that a young girl is married off to to a water god since they were not getting rain in their village. From there the story seems to develop. (Habaek is the water god by the way).
I had no idea how to do this request since it turns out that he has a child and adult form. In the end I decided to go for the adult form since I thought it looked cooler. And it also helped that I found a nice reference picture thanks to a cosplayer I found online.
