Nishimura and Takada

I just started reading the manga “The Clueless Transfer Student Is Assertive”. It’s such a cute story that just makes me smile after every chapter. A positive manga like this is really good every once in a while. I really like the way Takada diffuses the bullying through his overly positive worldview. These type of characters that just speak their mind are kinda rare nowadays. So it’s really fun seeing Nishimura’s reactions every time. the artwork is made up of simple yet super cute elements. I really like the rounded faces and angular body. Something about that just works and reminds me of old school manga. It was really fun drawing it (and quite simple as well).

Fancy Momochi

This is a digital painting using the line art from day 7 of Inktober 2020. The theme was fancy that day. When I started painting I just had the idea of keeping it flat and simple. I focused on Momoko first then I spent a good bit of time on the chair. I just started adding colors to see what would come out and when I was done I got the urge to add some stitching to the seat cushions. Getting the right colors was a bit easier when I used the hue ability of Photoshop. When I got the shape and colors at a state I was happy with I added some texture to give that stitching look. I tried a couple of techniques but I feel that making some skipping hatching worked. Keeping it uniform and in the same orientation keeps it looking clean. The background it self I wasn’t too sure about. I then just started adding background elements to make it look like a tea house. The hue used to be more yellowish, but when I was playing with the hues, I arrived at this whiter background. It’s been a while since I last painted so I was a bit worried, but I noticed that I was able to paint with a lot more calmness and ease. Soon I should be able to clear up some more time to use for art. I can’t wait to try more things out.

Inktober 2020 31 Crawl Skull Knight

Today’s last drawing for inktober and for Halloween is Skull Knight. Although it makes perfect sense, it’s still sad to see that someone else also suffered because of the God Hand. It’s poetic that both the king and Guts donned the Berserker Armor, which also means that the armor is really old as well. I wonder what the coming chapters will bring us.

Inktober 2020 30

Didn’t have much of an idea for today so I just started drawing and ended up with this. One more day and inktober will be completed. I should probably plan out what I want to draw for tomorrow since I won’t have too much time and it would be nice if I could watch a movie or something to fit the Halloween mood.

Inktober 2020 29 Simone de Beauvoir

Since I first saw the teasers of Nier Automata back when I had yet to play the game, I had seen a segment of Simone. The song was beautiful and the way it fought looked amazing. And when I actually got to play it, I knew that I had to draw her at some point. It’s a shame it took me this long to actually draw her. I was thinking of inking it, but I still don’t know what I will do later with it so I will leave in as line art.

Inktober 2020 27 Music Miguel

Today’s prompt is music. I wanted to make something more Halloween themed. At the beginning I was thinking of doing perhaps a more realistic take on the Spooky Scary Skeletons segment where a skeleton was playing the drums on another skeleton. Then I remembered Miguel from Coco and changed my mind. I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve actually done a drawing on Coco. Both Halloween and Dia de los Muertos will be here soon. Man time flies.

Inktober 2020 26 Momoko Hide

Today’s prompt is hide. After a little bit of thought I decided to use the scans of Momoko’s last photobook as reference to draw today’s drawing. What I did differently today was just learn from the clothes and the tree used, I wanted to make my own pose. I was imagining a scene where Momoko was playing hide and seek and decided to give up her position in a cute way.

Inktober 2020 25 Buddy Tomoko and Masaki

I had this idea a couple of days ago but was worried that I wouldn’t have enough time to draw it. Luckily I was able to make it. For today’s prompt we have buddy. It’s strange, but Tomoko’s and Yoshida’s relationship reminds me of G Gundam. You know, how like in the show they communicated through their fists (although it’s just Yoshida actually punching, then again Tomoko attacks using even more dangerous moves). I really loved Yoshida’s look and segments from the amusement park chapters.

Inktober 2020 21 Sleep Buono!

Last year for day 24 of inktober I had given this drawing a try, although I had modified it a bit. Since the prompt for today was sleep, I decided to try once again. Since it is a close up I was able to add a bit more detail to the drawing. Despite having a blueray with the Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! PV the scene where they are napping is a bit blurry due to some effects they used. I had stitch different parts together to get the scene together. Buono! is so nostalgic…

Inktober 2020 20 Goth Lolita

I wanted to do a drawing that was done entirely with hatching and cross hatching. Looking through my references I decided to draw @yu_ra_ne , I believe she is a model? But she has a lot of beautiful photos that I could choose from. I decided to go with one where she was dressed as a goth lolita since it would better fit into the Halloween aesthetic.

Inktober 2020 19 Goku Dizzy

I remembered there was a scene where Goku was fighting in the Tenkaichi tournament and he got dizzy when he used a technique where his spun around and turned into a tornado. When I was looking for it, it was against Nam. There was less variation in the posing showcasing how dizzy he was. So I decided to add more movement to my take on Goku getting dizzy. Since it was an easy drawing, I decided to ink it.
