This is the background for another painting in progress. I want to do more pieces that capture the rainy weather we are experiencing where I live and the green foliage that has bloomed because of it.
Happy Goku day. I can’t believe I just found out that May 9th is Goku Day. I didn’t have anything ready or planned, but luckily I had the line art of Goku celebrating that fits the occasion perfectly. Really like a gif of Goku and Krillin fighting during their younger days so I used that setting and colors for my painting.
I’m surprised I haven’t drawn Zoro before. Specially since he is my favorite One Piece character. Although to be fair, One Piece has so many good characters to choose from.
I came upon a photo of Yane wearing a yukata which I feel fits the spring quite well. I’m still not too sure how I will go about the next stage for this drawing, will I ink it, hatch it, or paint it? I haven’t quite decided that yet. I did add a bit of hatching already, but if I decide to do something different I could always edit it out later on.
This is the painted version of my drawing of Isako Washio. I can’t quite read the kanji for what the actual campaign she was modeling for in the reference picture I used, if you know what it is do let me know.
reference picture:
I quite liked the tan and shadows that compliment the lighting. I decided to have her in a beach as opposed to being indoors, so of course the lighting changed slightly to a brighter one. It’s been raining where I live quite often these past days so I was tempted to make it rainy in this painting as well. But I should do all types of weather types. Seeing as the temperature is also rising, going to the beach is not that out of place.
This is the colored version of the ink drawing I made of Rin Shima which can be seen here.
I decided to do something a bit different in that I wanted to see if I could just modify some reference pictures. I wanted to convey the feeling of accomplishing the goal of reaching a destination and embarking to the next one. As I was painting the raindrops, I decided to add a drop on Shima’s finger which I felt really fit. Because I decided to follow the reference picture a bit too closely, but I guess it was a happy mistake.
I had been reading the manga for a while now, but was surprised to learn just how big Yuru Camp is in Japan. That makes me rather happy. I actually went camping last summer. I couldn’t help but remember Yuru Camp. For my first artwork of this series, I picked Rin Shima. I quite like how dependable and independent she is.
This is the colored version of the line art I made for Don Ramon, a character of “El Chavo del 8”. Kind of looks like a Mexican version of Xehanort. I like the way the digital painting meshed with the ink hatching.
I wasn’t paying too much attention but Isako was wearing a bikini underneath, because the reference picture I have is a bit too pixelated I thought it was lace underwear.
While looking through my references I came upon a picture that had Don Ramon (a character from “El Chavo Del 8”, my favorite one) and Fujiwara no Mokou. This picture compared both of their expressions and grins which I found very funny.
this is the picture that I’m talking about:
And here is the drawing:
On another note, it seems like posting Pixiv links here no longer shows the full image, but I just found out I can upload images to Pinterest and they do show fully here. So Just might start doing that from now on.
It’s been two years since we witnessed Goku’s ultra instinct (in animate form). I’m surprised it took me this long to actually make a painting. When it comes to Dragon Ball’s many forms, my favorite is Kaio Ken because it makes the usage of it a gamble and gives it stakes every time Goku uses it. Of course this was later replaced and pretty much forgotten when the Super Saiyan form was introduced. Luckily, during the run of Super it was brought back and paired up with Super Saiyan Blue. The second form that I really liked was Ultra Instinct. This brought it back more to fighting and not so much who has the most power. It’s a form that requires a state of mind more than anything so that the body can move on experience and instinct during a fight. Plus the mastered form looks really cool.
