For the painting of Miyabi in her maid outfit I used a couple of references for the pose, one of them happened to be of Miyabi in her outfit for the Hello Project Winter 2019 Concert. I really loved the pose, the dress and the crown working together to make Miyabi look so beautiful. This time I wanted to hatch and cross hatch. The line art itself was done with my g pen and the hatching was done with my maru pen.

I drew this way back in May of this year as a tribute to Kentaro Miura. Looking at it again though, I wasn’t too happy with how thin Guts looked. So I fixed that digitally with Photoshop. I ten added some more hatching and some screentone.

Just a practice piece so that I can play around more with screentones, hatching and whatnot using Clip studio Paint and Photoshop. The background is of a cool area in Downtown Denver. I made it into a screen tone using Photoshop’s filter, sketch, halftone option. I inked and then hatched it using Clip Studio. Characters are from an idea of a story I want to work on.

A quick drawing today.
You know, it’s a shame that Seven was pretty much forgotten after she was introduced. I really enjoyed the addition of her character and I would even go on to say she is my favorite character. They could have done some interesting stories with her and Legoshi but I guess things just end up that way sometimes.
For this drawing I wanted to convey a melancholic scene but one of hope since despite Seven’s hardships she didn’t give up and continued to move forward. I drew and inked this drawing traditionally and then added the hatching and screentone using Clip Studio.

Didn’t have much of an idea for today so I just started drawing and ended up with this. One more day and inktober will be completed. I should probably plan out what I want to draw for tomorrow since I won’t have too much time and it would be nice if I could watch a movie or something to fit the Halloween mood.

I wanted to do a drawing that was done entirely with hatching and cross hatching. Looking through my references I decided to draw @yu_ra_ne , I believe she is a model? But she has a lot of beautiful photos that I could choose from. I decided to go with one where she was dressed as a goth lolita since it would better fit into the Halloween aesthetic.

I had drawn this back in I believe June 3rd of this year. Back then I had no idea of how to color it. I did at some point wanted to make it with gray tones but couldn’t figure it out. Today on my Youtube recommended’s list was a video featuring the art of tourniiquet, this one here.
After seeing it I decided to give it another try. I liked the way it turned out but wanted to add more contrast and texture somewhere so I eventually ended up using some paper texture for the background. I really like the way it came out.

I’ve been wanting to make an all ink drawing for a while now. This time I chose to draw Airi Suzuki. It’s a shame I got into ℃-ute (and Berryz Koubou) a little late to the party. I listened to a couple of their songs back in the day but never really delved into all their projects. On the plus side I have plenty of new material that will be new to me. I’m really glad Airi decided to continue singing after ℃-ute retired. I wont lie out of all the ℃-ute members Airi captured my attention the most (although everyone is winning me over when I started checking their songs and videos out, but I still think Airi is my favorite).
One artist that gave me the final push to finally draw this piece is ungrochika an artist that focuses on making art with ink. Her art is quite beautiful do check it out.

So another year come’s to a close…
It sure was a rather trying one…
But I and all of you made it through, now lets push forward!
Just for the heck of it I made a quick piece using only pens with hatching and cross hatching.
The idea mainly came from watching this video:
So really I wanted to see what I could do. I wasn’t really trying to make a finished work, instead I wanted to see if I could make it look anything at all like the reference picture. It’s quite rough, but the general idea is there.

Obviously my level compared to Ryoichi Ikegami is still quite low. The lines are nowhere as refined and the lines are quite rough and not uniform but! I was able to acquire the main idea. I was actually quite surpsided at how fast I could acquire the effects that I wanted. I feel confident even saying that it was quite easy. I wonder just how well it would look if I were to do so with cleaner and well thought out lines?
The best way to learn is by recreating pieces, so that is what I will try to do for this coming year (on all fronts).
Almost forgot to even mention this, but the people above are from a Mexican show called “El Chavo del 8”. A comedy show from the 70s that has trancended time and that each generation watches at some point or another. A true gem of Mexico. As for why I chose them, I mainly wanted to draw a guy since I have mainly been drawing females for quite a while. And well I just felt like it would be fun to do so.
Let’s focus a bit of time on the Christmas Misaka and Misaki artwork. I used a combination of Knicker poster paints (yes I made the plunge, I’ll explain this at some other time), kuretake gansai tambi (watercolor set) and pencils.

Such a shame about not showing the before and after of the frills on Misakas coat, it shows just how versatile Knicker Poster Colors are.
As stated before, I’m still not done with it but this is the last state as of this writing.
