The new additions to the gallery + one

Allright, so here are some more artwork that are now part of the gallery. I can’t believe it, but it has grown up quite a bit. Sure most of it comes from the restoration project, but that doesn’t change the fact that now we have 16 pictures being featured. I will make sure to make more artwork that is worthy of being showcased!

In any case the newly added drawings are these ones:

Some new additions?

I added a couple of more pieces to the gallery about three days ago, didn’t say anything because I got a bit busy. I’ll give some more info on this tomorrow, I’ll also be adding another new piece as well. So please look forward to that.

New additions to the gallery!

Sorry I know I tend to disappear quite a bit, but I had to take care of some paperwork that decides my future for the next two years among other duties I had to keep. But fear not for I was also working on some artwork along the way. I guess what I will be posting is not new, but it has been refined now that I have leveled up my skills. There are some other artworks that will be getting this treatment so look forward to that. If I have some more time I will also be adding some more info on other posts I left unfinished as well. Now that the year is ending I’m actually getting a bit more time to work on all this so I hope to add some more content. Please look forward to that.

A couple more pictures will be added momentarily (these will be added to the gallery soon).

Gallery finally updated

I was finally able to update my gallery. I took out almost all of the artwork that was there before and replace it with the current artwork that I have finished recently. I’ll try to keep the artwork in the gallery clean of unfinished work and only update it with artwork worthy of being there. Hope you guys enjoy it. The gallery is quite small at the moment, but I will make it grow pretty soon. Hope you guys look forward to it.

By the way, artwork that is currently up right now are

Xerneas – A Chance Encounter

Yvelta – A Chance Sighting

Sinanju – A path that is not destined

Obscurus and Ame “Halloween “

The Wind Rises – A lifetime by your side

another minor update: My power went down, so I will have to fix it. This might impede in  me making updates momentarily. Will be back very soon.

Sorry about that.

I got a bit busy so I wasn’t able to add any updates of this drawing up before today, sorry about that. It is finally going live! But before that I would like to give some back story to this drawing. This drawing was first done about a year ago, I think… sadly for some reason I didn’t put the date in the back. In any case, this is the first drawing to go through a new project that I am working on. Thinking about it, it doesn’t have a name yet does it (the project I mean)? After thinking about it, I will name it “The Restoration Project”. I will be restoring a lot of my old drawings since I just didn’t have the abilities to draw out the full potential of my art at the time. This will only be done on the drawings that actually have a potential of course, this is so I can limit the amount so that I can keep doing some new material.

Now, as for the drawing it self. I have been giving hints of me writing my own story. What I have not said yet is the name of the story. So this will be the first time I will be making this public. The name of the story will be named “Between Light and Darkness”. As of now, I plan on writing this story in three parts. But I do have ideas of what can come after. What does this have to do with this drawing? Well this is a scene inspired by my story using two of the characters that will be in it. The girl is named Ame Makenshi and the boy is named Obscurus Nube. I want to make the story a bit original, but like most stories this has to do with a guy who has feelings for a girl. This scene is of them in a  Halloween party. Ame is getting a picture taken and Obscurus is caught in the background staring at her. I’m sure this has happened to most people at some point right? So what do you guys think? Does the drawing look better?

Hatsune Miku Update II

As promised, here is the next update to the current artwork that I am working on right now. This is only the base with some shadows added. This was done with both water colors and Copic markers. Now I am in the final stages. What I will do now is add some more colors with my color pencils. And that will be my final step, so next time it should be the final piece.

Some new changes

As I thought, I will have to give up making Youtube videos (at least regular ones). From here on out I will just focus on creating the best artwork possible and making my name grow. On top of that I will also help grow a project that I have been interested in starting for a while now. Hopefully I can make my goals happen.

Although I have gotten extremely busy these days, now that I have given up Youtube I now have a bit of time to implement to this page, so expect some more content from here on out. It won’t be coming at a scheduled pace but it should be constant at least.

There will be some changes to this page as well, some pages will be taken off. I will now only focus on creating drawings and nothing else. So all pages that are not that will be taken off. The way to order commissions will be simplified as well, and some of the artwork will be taken off and replaced as well. So keep that in mind if you happen to see somethings missing.

I have finally reached the level where I can create artwork that I was aiming for. But that also means that I can reach even higher levels when it comes to my artwork, so I will not be satisfied just yet. I will keep improving my art so that it can reach new heights. I truly hope you guys look forward to that.

On another note, “Feliz dia de la independencia! Para mi pais Mexico!”
Today we celebrate the independence of my home country Mexico, though it is going through some tough situations and problems, I still love my country and am proud to tell others of my nationality. Hopefully the problems being faced will be resolved in a non violent way in the future. “Viva Mexico! Te deseo lo mejor.”

XERO DRAWING – Godzilla x Gypsy Danger PART II

Time spent: 11 hours 48 minutes (total: 17 h 08 m)
Materials used: Sakura 0.7 mechanical pencil, Faber Castell Perfection 7056 pencil eraser, eraser,
Sakura Pigma Micron set Black 03,
Sakura gellyroll White,
Uniball Signo White
Reeves Water Colours 18 set: Ivory Black, Phthalo Blue
Copic Markers: 100, C1, C3, C5, C7, W1, W3, W5, W7, Y11, Y15, Y17, Y26, YR04, YR68, B0000, B01, B05, B21, B24, B32, B34, B45, B97, BG10, BG13, BG72, BG75, BV00, E04, R00, RV14, R27, V01, G21, G24, YG03, 0

I’ve finally gotten done with this drawing! It took quite a long time. It took a total of about 17 hours and 8 minutes. The longest so far (I think). In any case, I’ll probably make a couple of slight modifications like adding more details to it before I add it to deviant art.

I made the drawing with them at the start of the conflict but ready to go with their strongest attack. I also wanted to try out a couple of new techniques, so I decided to make the scene dark, something I rarely do. Over all I am satisfied with how it turned out, but I also feel that if I were to do this again it would look at least a bit better and cleaner since I have a better understanding of the process I have to take to make certain effects like on the water, or making light.

As for who I like more? Obviously Godzilla. I seriously enjoyed the Pacific Rim movie specially because it was done by a paisano but, Godzilla has a lot of sentimental value to it. And I enjoyed the Heisei movies more (even though they were a bit cheesy at times). This goes for who would win in a fight as well by the way.

XERO DRAWING – Godzilla x Gypsy Danger Part I

Time spent: 5 hours 20 minutes

Materials used: Sakura 0.7 mechanical pencil, Faber Castell Perfection 7056 pencil eraser, eraser,

I am actually about half way done painting the drawing, but I had two drawings to do this week so I had no choice but to break it into two parts. For this drawing I wanted to do something a bit different, so I decided to draw Godzilla vs Gypsy Danger. Surprisingly it wasn’t as tough as I thought it would be, but it did take quite a bit of time to draw. And since painting it has a lot of details plus I am also trying out new techniques along the way.

Over all, it looks quite bland without any color or even shading so it looks mediocre. But that will all be fixed on the next segment.

Hope you look forward to it.

Artist Project Update 3/15/2014

Drawing what is popular, and drawing what one really enjoys is something that sometimes can undermine the popularity of an artist. Although one might have the same tastes as the general population, there might be a subject (be it a scenery, individual, group, culture, series etc.) that one can’t let go because of the importance it has to one’s life. But, the majority of people might not be too into it, or just moved on from that to something else that is more recent. Of course, there are a couple of exceptions that don’t lose popularity because of their impact in history, but a vast amount of subjects do lose that general public interest. Because of this, an artists creation might not get recognized or even looked upon because it does not hold an interest in people anymore. That is when one has to make a decision. Should I draw what people are into, or should I keep drawing what I like in the hopes that someone out there who has similar tastes might find it?

The answer is actually quite simple. Do both. I don’t mean to draw things you don’t enjoy just to get more people interested. What I mean is that if you happen to have interest in something popular at the moment, take the time to make a piece for it. That will boost the amount of interest in your artwork. While doing that, work on pieces that are meaningful to you. Just take turns between each. This is something I have to keep in mind myself, because I tend to ignore this piece of advice all the time. I get so enamored with a subject that I am still working with it a couple of years down the road, while others have already moved on to newer things (both other artists and viewers/customers).

I usually don’t move for many reasons though. I like to stay with a subject not just because I cant get enough of it, but because I like to delve into it until I can understand it to the best of my ability. I like to be able to draw that subject without much afterthought during the process. Being able to just freely express my self without worrying if I was getting certain sections right or wrong. This process might be a little longer for me since I am a  free hand artist though.

In any case, I will give this a try, and see where this takes me. If this works I will let you know.

Till next time,

-XERO
