Momochi visor line art Re-do

There are so many drawings that I have left unfinished. This is one of them. The original line art had messy and thick lines that I had to fix. So I just went ahead and redid the whole line art using Clip Studio. There are a few additions and modifications. Next comes the painting process.

Speaking of painting, I feel like there are so many painting that I can redo now. But maybe I will wait it out till I have more skills…

Freezing Background WIP

This week has been something… Somehow I was able to make progress on this painting though. Here is the background for now. We have been having waves of strong winter storms lately where I live, and it seems like more are coming on the way. Winter this year has been living up to it’s name (and the end of the last).

I’ll upload the finished painting on Monday if all goes well.

Shin Godzilla

I love the scene where Shin Godzill first uses his atomic breath and other beams. I won’t lie, the first time I saw it on theaters I was surprised and wasn’t too sure about that change. But everytime I saw the movie again I fell in love with this new design and the new abilities. This scene in particular was very touching. The purple color is also a nice touch to differentiate it from other Godzillas.

Kuga Trigger On

Karin Miyamoto had posted some photos of her cosplaying and buying goods from World Trigger. About two weeks ago I finally decided to give it a shot and have already caught up (with the manga). I was actually surprised, the world building, battle system and character interactions are great. Check it out if you get a chance. Kuga is freakin cool, his adaptive fight style always gives me a surprise.

Guts Frozen Quest Background WIP

Currently working on a painting that I had thought up last year. It’s still a bit rough at the moment, but the main idea has pretty much been painted out using my Surface Pro 5.

So I had bought a used Surface Pro so that I could paint on the go but rarely used it because it couldn’t keep up with the settings I use on my desktop. The canvas size was too large I found out. When I halved the size to around 2500 to 3500 the Surface is actually quite capable. I can’t believe that was all I need to do so that I could use it…

Bulma and Goku Aliens lineart

It’s weird, drawing is way slower digitally for me. For some reason this drawing took a long time to make and then clean up… Perhaps for line art I should just draw traditionally from now on and digitize afterword.

This is a follow-up to the drawing I made of Goku also parodying Aliens.

It can be seen here:

I feel like redoing it at some point.

As for this drawing, I was thinking of following the reference photo but in the end thought that would be boring. So I changed it to make Goku prepared to fight. I originally had him wearing his Kame uniform, but decided to use Newt’s outfit instead. As I was looking through the movie I noticed that the gun in the poster was probably a prototype prop before they settled on the actual guns or something. That’s when I had to come to the realization that I would have to change that as well. Luckily I managed to find good reference models online. I was thinking of adding the dual gun setup but for now I settled with only the M240 Incinerator Unit. I don’t know why, but that took a while. I seriously need to learn what the method to draw straight lines is digitally because doing it by hand has me redoing lines over and over. Next time I should also trace over the completed line art because going in and cleaning it takes way too long…

Tennis Momochi in 4 styles inked-hatched

I’ve had these inked and hatched Momochi drawings waiting for over a month, it is now time to finally upload them. Working with the line art, I also wanted the line art and inking to compliment each other. Somehow, less facial features works better. Once the details get too close to realism, certain facial features have to be drawn in a more realistic way otherwise it can make the face look off. I think playing with the line thicknesses can either help or hurt as well. I’ll have to experiment more to find out what works at certain times and what doesn’t.

Luckily there’s plenty of Momochi drawings I want to draw so I can practice more.
