Today was a bit hectic so no inking or hatching.
I’ve been wanting to draw Airi in her maid outfit for a while now, so today ended up being a good excuse to do so.

I wanted to try hatching today. This is still rough, But with some planning and more experience, this style can work. As for the subject, I was reminded again of the Orcas that were sinking ships so I decided to draw one today.

I’m currently drawing on small pieces of paper that are 6″ x 8″ . I kinda wanted some of the folds in Marin’s clothes to be thinner, but working with my current paper has trouble with my maru pen. It digs in and has trouble releasing the ink like I want it to, despite making the ink consistency just like I want it. I used my g pen to make certain areas thicker to try and give a contrast. But I think it only helped a little. Maybe I should use a higher quality paper to try working with the line thickness I can get with my maru pen.

Last year I painted Yor, but I didn’t like the way it came out. Which is why I wanted to try it out again. It’s amazing how much my skill have increased in one year. Hopefully I keep getting even better.
You can se my first try here:

Papa Meat is fast becoming one of my favorite youtube creators. His follow up to his pumpkin spice animation was hilarious.

Had limited time today. Due to that I used Clip Studio for this piece and only drew the line art.

I liked the design and the curves of the suit of armor that Luffy briefly wears during “Thriller Bark”. Who wouldn’t be happy to wear it.

Although I have heard of it before, I started watching Saiki K. It’s just as funny as he described it. The amount of gags deployed in one episode is incredible. This influenced today’s drawing made up of psychic users who can use telepathy. Although I just realized there was someone else I could have included amongst the group, Yakumo Tsukamoto. Perhaps that will be a future drawing for this inktober.
On another note, I want an official translation of Kanakana, a group fan translated 3 chapters but there hasn’t been an update despite that manga still being active.

This is the background for a piece I have ready for Halloween. I want to make more since I am always late in working on seasonal themes.

For day 2 I decided to draw Nico Robin from One Piece. I really liked her outfit from Thriller Bark.

October and Inktober has arrived once again. I have some ideas of what I want to try drawing this year, but as for what the first drawing would be I couldn’t really come up with an idea. Looking through my references and trying to find this cosplayer that I forgot the name of, I came upon another account that reminded me of Karin from Karin or as we know it here in the states, Chibi Vampire. I really want to re read the series this month. It’s been a while since I have done traditional work. But when it comes to drawing, it definitely is much more natural and easier for me to do it traditionally. I wanted to use some hatching on this drawing but I forgot that my maru pen worked really poorly with the paper I used. I’ll have to have that in mind for future drawings.
If you haven’t read Karin, do check it out. I highly recommend it.

I watched Oshi no Ko quite a few weeks ago. I loved it. By far my favorite character is Kana. I really want to make make more paintings of her.
The weather is finally starting to change and so are the colors, even if ever so slightly where I live. I wanted to portray a cozy atmosphere with this painting. Thus the colors and location I chose.
In terms of the painting I liked playing with different lighting colors that happened due to the light sources coming from all around her. Lately I have been debating whether to keep the big anime eyes, or making them more realistic. Personally I like both but often do wonder if my art style works better with more realistic proportions.
The window looked a bit too simple and empty so I decided to use the skill I learned from painting Momochi a while ago and add some raindrops. I think it’s a nice touch.
By the end I decided to make the painting into a sequence.
Here is the process:
