I just noticed, but this drawing was done almost a year ago. And it has been painted for almost a couple of weeks now. But I kept pushing it back. Maybe I should upload every day instead of only on weekdays. But I do plan on making videos on things beside the speed paints as well, so I’ll see how my schedule ends up looking before I make a decision.
I went for a flat colring style this time. Hmm… Metal Bat looks a bit like Dracula…

I quite liked the outfit Masaki used during the amusement park fieldtrip. Looking at the cover for volume 13 I got the chance to see the color scheme. Although I’m still not sure of the backpacks full color scheme.

I had this idea a couple of days ago but was worried that I wouldn’t have enough time to draw it. Luckily I was able to make it. For today’s prompt we have buddy. It’s strange, but Tomoko’s and Yoshida’s relationship reminds me of G Gundam. You know, how like in the show they communicated through their fists (although it’s just Yoshida actually punching, then again Tomoko attacks using even more dangerous moves). I really loved Yoshida’s look and segments from the amusement park chapters.

I’ve been doing a couple of paintings these last two days but I won’t be showcasing them till a couple of days later. In the meantime I decided to make a simple and quick drawing. At first I was of doing it completely with ink but ended up doing it with a combination of both. Although I’m sure I could have done a lot more interesting effects I wanted to emulate a smooth color coverage.
As for the reference picture I used, surprisingly I came up with the idea of drawing Metal Bat (one of my favorite S rank members) when I was looking through one of my 80s reference folders. I came upon an ad for the Be-Bop Highschool movie poster. If you look at of the actors named Tōru Nakamura, he looks a lot like Metal Bat. I seriously wouldn’t be surprised if he was based off of the actors image in the movie. I drew this back in September 30th of 2019, I just didn’t have the confidence to paint it till now.
I originally came up with the concept of this piece after I saw the Dora the Explorer movie. She had all sorts of weapons in her backpack and at one point even used a yoyo as a weapon. And since at that time I was getting into the Sukeban Deka shows and movies I ended up coming up with this idea of painting this crossover.
For the painting itself I decided to use the cover illustrations from the books which are absolutely beautiful. They helped me push in terms of colors so that they didn’t look flat. I quite like the way it came out. I hope to improve further from here on out.
