This is an edited version of the battle between Touma and Gunha vs Misaka who has been used for the level 6 shift project. I made the colors a bit darker and more vibrant. I also re painted a couple of areas to add more details, lighting, shadows and changing a couple of details.
I’m currently watching the To Aru Kagaku no Railgun T anime. I’m really pleased with it. Unlike with To Aru majutsu season 3, they didn’t rush the series and the animation looks really beautiful. There were a couple of shots that used cgi that were moving a bit too fast and weird at the beginning but it seems they got used to it in the later episodes.
I really like Sogiita Gunha’s character so seeing him fight right next to Touma is amazing. Because this is one of my favourite scenes I decided to paint it.
Surprisingly this piece only took me three days to do. I guess I have been improving…
Was working on this last week but didn’t get to finish the painting process till just now after work. The line work was done using my Stabilo pens. It’s been a while since I last used them. I wanted to see what kind of effect it would have when I underlaid it digital paint. It’s not a bad look, especially in the skin tones but, I think the blue is a little too well blue. I’m thinking using a grey pen on most parts except on the skin tones would work better. But at least now I know. It’s a shame they don’t really work well with watercolors (they smear and bleed). Well at least they work with copics. It’s a shame really because when it comes to traditional painting/coloring I now prefer to use watercolors. As for the digital painting process I tried to replicate the anime coloring style which I just absolutely love. Will definitely try doing it again. I’ll also do try doing this using my traditional paints.
Things have been getting rather hectic lately. Stay safe out there, and never give up.
So I have decided to start applying to competitions and this one really caught my eye. Not only will there be a price but it’s for a great cause that I truly believe in. If anyone reading this wants to take part in it follow this link: http://catalystfoundation.org/archives/2972
This organization does a lot of things to help stop human trafficking and poverty in Vietnam, if you have the chance please check them out and if possible help them out in what ever way you can. I know this isn’t the usual “just art” stuff but I believe art can be a tool for change and thats something I want to use my abilities for.
