Background for a current painting. I almost have the feel I want, but I can’t really finish the background until I add in the subjects and make everything cohesive.

"A Hopeless Dream Chaser"
WordPress was not working yesterday so this post is a day late.
I saw a video of Reina showing some behind the scenes of a photoshoot where she was firing a bazooka with confetti that I thought looked fun. I had started drawing this quite a while ago but I got a bit busy and was left unfinished. By the time I got back to it, we had already entered Autumn. Maybe that was for the best, because that gave me the idea to make it a leave bazooka. Helping bring in the Fall season. From what I had before I resumed working on it, I still hadn’t started working on the outfit that Reina was wearing. Which has more summer vibes. Again, I preferred the way the outfit looked like it was a black dress that I felt fit the fall season more.
Here is a screengrab of the references I used:

I’m pretty sure I mentioned this before, but when I saw the scene with the demon coming out of Bosse. I go this strong resemblance to Tartini’s Dream. A story where he saw and heard the devil composing the most beautiful song he ever heard. With that in mind, I wanted to make a similar scene to that but about Majin laughing at Bojji due to Bosses wish.
This was actually the first time I used tortillones to smooth out the graphite. I really loved the way they work, it was really intuitive.

The scene of the Majin laughing at Bojji gave me a strong image of the image “Tartini’s Dream”. I’ll talk about it more when I finish this piece. The goal is to draw and shade it all in pencil. but this is the line art and the way the scene is composed. For the final piece I will transfer it to another clean paper (I put too much pressure when I draw).
I’ll leave the description as it is for now, I’ll explain more when I make the finished drawing (although inking it would’ve looked nice too).

I wanted to have a bit more of an anime painting style this time. When I was done, I wanted it to look a bit more textured. So I ended up using a rough paper overlay. I ended up using both Corel Painter and Photoshop. While looking through the Rurouni Kenshin anime, there was a scene where Shishio’s eyes are glowing purple (episode 60). Just for the heck of it I wanted to give it a try and it just fit so well that I decided to keep it that way.
