Another year of life. Had an idea of what I wanted to draw this year but although I got most of the rough draft done I just wasn’t feeling it today. Perhaps I will finish it next year. In the mean time I decided to instead play around with some new brushes that just downloaded.
You know, it’s funny. I just learned that the English name for a marigold is cempasuchil. On top of that after watching the play Marigold where Meimi stars in, I learned that in the language of flowers it means despair. But that seems to be in the Victorian meaning, because for us Mexicans it means purity, divinity, and the connection between life and death. It is said to be a gift by the Sun God and helps lead the dead with it’s scent.
In any case, another year has passed. It’s been a tough one but I hope that things will finally start getting better in this coming year. Either way, there’s no other option than to keep going at it.
I finally colorized this drawing. I had planned to do so sooner… but I finally got to it. What I had in mind was going for a Ukiyo-e style. I went for a simple painting style and then texturized with with some layers I overlaid upon it.
Didn’t have much of an idea for today so I just started drawing and ended up with this. One more day and inktober will be completed. I should probably plan out what I want to draw for tomorrow since I won’t have too much time and it would be nice if I could watch a movie or something to fit the Halloween mood.
Today’s prompt is music. I wanted to make something more Halloween themed. At the beginning I was thinking of doing perhaps a more realistic take on the Spooky Scary Skeletons segment where a skeleton was playing the drums on another skeleton. Then I remembered Miguel from Coco and changed my mind. I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve actually done a drawing on Coco. Both Halloween and Dia de los Muertos will be here soon. Man time flies.
Me and my brothers were waiting for this moment for a while now, and after ten years a remastered edition has now been confirmed in the Nier 10th anniversary event. So to celebrate I wanted to paint a quick piece. I’ve only drawn Emil once before for the Initial D drawing, but I wanted to do another one. Next time I want to do one of him using his magic or something, we’ll see.
I think this only took me a little over an hour to do. I played around with Photoshops blending brush again. I really wish Corel Painter wasn’t as clunky and slow, Photoshop is beating it in this way as well. Corel 2020 is supposed to have fixed that but haven’t tried it out yet.
