This was originally drawn for day 26 of 2019 Inktober. Didn’t really have any plans for coloring it. First I started with the background and decided on using Mimikyu’s background from when he appeared in the game. I then started coloring in Pikachu but wasn’t too sure how I felt about it. When I finished painting it I started playing with the levels and other settings in Photoshop. After making another darker version and looking at it for a while I had the idea of maybe making it look like he was caught with a flashlight. Doesn’t look bad.

This was drawn originally on July 17 2019 and painted on July 19 2019. I wanted to try out TES‘s style again. I first drew it out with a copic W7, I exaggerated certain features and simplified the colors. I found that using copic as the line art is quite amazing for not just digital painting but also with mediums like watercolors. It’s just a shame they stopped making their color multiliners (should have bought some when I had the chance). I tried using them with my g pen but the dry off on the tip rather quickly. I guess I’ll have to use their pen refill system and create my own.

This was a second try at using Hiros’ ( siiteiebahiro ) style. I wanted to try painting it with Copics and then give it another try digitally with Corel Painter. I used a picture from Sayu’s Instagram as a reference then modified it to have her holding a Pokeball (it’s the third photo in this post).
Awesome, seems like I can post Instagram posts here directly!
Here is are my attempts:
This is the version done using Copic markers.
I used the fully inked drawing from above and faded it so that I could digitally paint over it. I debated over what to put in the background but decided to keep it simple and practice merging the focal point and the background together at some point in the future.

Time is flying by quite fast. Looking back I have been quite busy this year. I’ve also invested in more art supplies. They were definitely worth it, I just hope I have more of a chance to practice using them on this new year. Luckily I have taken cared of the hardest and most time consuming parts left for this year. So fingers crossed that I’ll have more time to create and experiment on new art pieces.
I somehow managed to make it through Inktober despite it all. I think I have gotten a bit quicker when drawing. I’ve also noticed that I can make poses from my mind and it also happens to be much faster. I do have to work more on color though. so I will be using some of the ink drawings and coloring them.
Here is a piece I drew just for today.
And I will begin uploading the latest pieces I have been working on over the past year.
I’ll start with a drawing I did of Sayumi as a pokemon trainer. I first drew it then after I scanned it I printed different copies so that I could try out different styles. This one was done with Copics using Hiro’s ( siiteiebahiro ) style.
Originally drawn on 6/6/19 and painted on 6/11/19.

I tried doing another piece using photographs as the “paint”. My brother actually suggested I made one with Gengar when he showed me that photo I mentioned before (when I made Lynn Minmey). Also here is the artist and the picture I mentioned name is kotetsu_of (link will take you to the artists instagram).
I’ve always been a fan of this Pokemon and it’s previous evolutions.
With that said here is the finished piece:

I know that a lot of people think that the Pikachu-Like Pokemons are lazy but I really like this Mimikyu design. Having such a gloomy Pokemon that feels it has to hide his true identity with a Pikachu costume is quite amusing for me. It really makes one feel for Mimikyu. That whole segment of the game was one of my favorite story-lines of the game actually.

I thought that I had uploaded the process for this piece when it was only a drawing. But maybe not, I couldn’t really find it. In any case this is the final painting which was first drawn traditionally then painted over with Photoshop. Traditional X Digital. This is going to be a long post… Hope you enjoy (๑ ˊ͈ ᐞ ˋ͈ )ƅ̋
The original drawing was made quite a while ago but I don’t remember when exactly. Looking at the picture properties it says it was on May of this year but I’m pretty sure it was at the very least done last year… In any case I was thinking of doing it traditionally but cleaning it wouldn’t be enough to erase my mistaken lines. So I decided to hold off till I could paint it digitally in a competent way.
This is the line art (which I later had to clean digitally… that took a while (๑⁺᷄д⁺᷅๑)◞՞):
References used:
This is the neighborhood photo I used for reference (I had edited the colors using Photoshop but I made the mistake of not saving it…. ◍´Д‵◍ )
I wanted to use this color scheme at first, but did use it for inspiration over all.
Rough draft (this was the original idea I had and worked from this):
This is the drawing process (Looking at the placement and tools, this truly was a while ago):
So with the drawing done, finally after so many … months… here is the color process:
So at this point I remembered and figured it would be as good time as any to finally fix Yuu chan who I drew too big. If I remember correctly this was one of the reasons I decided to paint it digitally.
Phew… 〝〇〟⊂(`・Δ・´)⊃〝〇〟
That should be all.
