Fubuki and Tatsumaki Christmas RE:do Short

Merry Christmas and happy holidays! With these two uploaded it’s finally time for me to try and rest for a bit. (And of course it would fight me till the end, had to re edit a couple of times before it allowed me to render it.)

Fubuki and Tatsumaki Christmas RE:do

I need to find a new place to upload my art because Pinterest keeps resizing my pictures below 1080p.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Somehow I managed to finish the second Christmas painting. This is another RE:do. This time it’s from a really rough piece from back in 2018 when I was barely getting into digital painting. Thus it was quite rough. Five years of practice really shows.

Here is the original painting;

Mmmm…. I kinda want to rest for at least two days, but I also want to make and upload the making of videos. We’ll see if that happens.

Fubuki gust Screentone Color

This one was in the chamber for a while now. I’m also planning to paint it with another background. But I still haven’t decided what the scene will be. This time I wanted to try out color screen tone. But I went about it the wrong way. A future piece I finally learned the proper way of using Clip Studio and man has it been so much easier.

Color really hits different. Though black and white also has it’s charm.

Fubuki gust inked

I’ve had this drawing waiting to be inked or colored for quite a while now. I also want to make new artwork too, but it would be a shame to finish past artwork. The original plan for this line art was to paint it but I’ve decided to also ink it and try out different styles and methods. For the inking process I used the pen tool, screen tone and spray paint for the highlights.

I think I want to use these same ink and screen tone but using a color scheme.

Fubuki gust line art

The line art version of my drawing of Fubuki. I always had trouble drawing her hair but I think I’m now finally getting the hang of it. I’m thinking of inking this drawing and then making a painted version as well.

Void Fist siblings line art

The line art for my drawing of Suiryu and Suiko. I made a couple of edits so that I could fix a couple of areas. Specifically on Suiryu’s face. I might both ink it and make a painted version as well.

Fubuki and Tatsumaki Christmas 2021

As were getting closer to Christmas I felt that I should make some paintings to fit the season. At this point painting Fubuki and Tatsumaki has become somewhat a tradition so why not continue. I didn’t have a plan starting out but it eventually morphed into the sisters sitting in a staircase. I had the idea of having hats/ head pieces but decided to paint them at the end. This worked out well because I could have two versions, one wearing hats and one without.

Metal Bat inked painted

I just noticed, but this drawing was done almost a year ago. And it has been painted for almost a couple of weeks now. But I kept pushing it back. Maybe I should upload every day instead of only on weekdays. But I do plan on making videos on things beside the speed paints as well, so I’ll see how my schedule ends up looking before I make a decision.

I went for a flat colring style this time. Hmm… Metal Bat looks a bit like Dracula…

Metal Bat ink and copic

I’ve been doing a couple of paintings these last two days but I won’t be showcasing them till a couple of days later. In the meantime I decided to make a simple and quick drawing. At first I was of doing it completely with ink but ended up doing it with a combination of both. Although I’m sure I could have done a lot more interesting effects I wanted to emulate a smooth color coverage.

As for the reference picture I used, surprisingly I came up with the idea of drawing Metal Bat (one of my favorite S rank members) when I was looking through one of my 80s reference folders. I came upon an ad for the Be-Bop Highschool movie poster. If you look at of the actors named Tōru Nakamura, he looks a lot like Metal Bat. I seriously wouldn’t be surprised if he was based off of the actors image in the movie.
