This background will be for a RE:do of an old painting I was unsatisfied with. Background still needs some work but the main idea is now there.

Another test using Krita, this time with color again. There’s this blending brush that I downloaded that works really well. Just a shame I can’t do it all with just one brush. But I guess if I just add the brushes I use to my favorites it shouldn’t take that much longer than with Corel Painter. The current smeary brushes don’t quite act like I want though, plus it stutters when I paint in the usual large canvas of 9,000px.
Some brushes act like I would expect and others either don’t or lag at the size I need it. Luckily I can make my own brushes so it will take some time to adjust to my style.

I finally get the chance to upload this painting of Sylvia. It’s been waiting for weeks. But because of that I was able to do edits along the way. I tried playing around with various lighting techniques on this one.

Not sure if I will finish it this year or just focus on other paintings. This is a RE:do of a past painting. I should probably focus on some Christmas paintings and artwork.

I made some last minute touchups to it just before uploading. It was waiting since before October. I wonder is anyone can tell what school this is?

Background for a future painting. For some reason I had some fond memories return to me which led to the creation of the idea for this whole piece.

It is now finally time to upload my color painting of Meimi Tamura. I’m glad I waited on uploading it because I made a few touches today. I think it’s time to read books about color theory so that I don’t just rely on instinct. Like last time, I also want to edit a video of the process for this painting. I’ll probably do a short and eventually figure out what I want to do for the longer video.

Now that it’s Spring, it is finally time to showcase the painting of the main love triangle (Akane, Ranma, Ryoga). While painting I was wondering what sort of style I would go for. I’m always split between flat anime styles or more realistic painterly styles. In the end I went for an anime style. After that I decided to add some lighting glare that really brought the background and the subjects together. One thing I leaned from this painting was that it looked better when I added separate lighting for each character on top of the main glare that covers the whole painting.

This will be the background for a certain painting that I will upload in the future. Surprisingly I kept having trouble with something so simple. I kept painting and repainting both this background and the actual subject. All I’ll say is that I’ve come to really like the sponge brush.

Here is the final painting, there are two versions. One with lighting and one without. And despite the effort I put into the background, most of it is covered up. Hehe.

This will be the background for next weeks painting, the line art is already up so you can already guess who the subject is. I really wanted to play with the lighting.
