Day 9th. Today’s drawing is Ai Amano from Video girl Ai. I guess I need to research this, but is Ai Amano based on Yoko Oginome? There are several photos where Yoko has pretty much the same hair style that Ai has in the manga.
It is day 8th. Today’s drawing is of Naoko Kawai, my favorite 80s idol, And that’s saying something because there are so many idols I love. I think I now am understanding the style that I may be setting on. Looking back at the last Naoko drawing I made, I didn’t quite like they way it looks. This though, I think is more my style.
Line art originally drawn on April 7th of this year.
My drawing of Naoko has finally been painted. I went for an 80s anime style. I didn’t quite liked the way the eyes looked so I decided to edit them. I was thinking of adding a fence in the background but I think I’ll leave it like this for now. Maybe I’ll add it at a later date.
I wasn’t too sure what to do with the background, but as I was looking through my screenshot references I came upon a couple of a sunset that I wanted to replicate.

I was wondering whether to change the colors of the outfit from the reference of Kyôko Koizumi:
But I quite liked this color combination so I decided to keep it. As for the color of the sneakers, I was playing around with the idea of various colors like purple but I ended up with this black accent ones.
I really quite liked Chinami’s 2022 photo so I decided to draw her. She always has such pleasing and cheerful expressions. That’s always really refreshing.
I’ve yet to see it, but I think it was a year ago when I found out that Reina was actually involved with Nier. At first I thought it was just for promotional work but I soon found out that she was actually in a canon stage play where she plays a YorHa member. The singing she did was amazing. I should seriously see it soon.
For the background I once again used some of the new oil brushes for the background. These are made by Martina Palazzese (used brush 04). They add some really cool textures, but sadly they don’t blend. I’m really missing Corel Painter in that sense. Of course I went with an 80s painting style and added two layers of shadows and one of lighting on Kodachi. I was debating on whether the background should be during the day or a sunset. I ended up going with daytime lighting but it does give me an excuse to do another Kodachi painting.
I ended up editing the line art quite a bit since I messed up the proportions. I noticed this even more when I was painting. I went with an 80s anime style. I think I’m getting the hang of it now. Chinami looks super cute in this style.
