I should probably do some spooky drawings as we are now in the mid point of October. While I was looking for some new references of the Hex girl I noticed that there’s a new version now.

I’ve been playing The Battle Cats since the North American release. Crazy to think it has been almost a full decade. I’ve been playing it in my spare time but was having trouble getting all three special cats in the “What’s in the Box” Gacha event. I was getting nothing but Coin and Maneki Cat’s. Funnily enough I finally got Mr Ninja while I was working on this drawing. I think it took me over 50 special tickets.

Day 15. Today’s drawing is of Syaoran Li. This time I only drew the line art. I couldn’t find a name to Syaoran’s fighting style, though it’s of course Chinese based. What I do know is that Syaoran likes to point his index and middle fingers so I made sure to incorporate that into his pose. Thinking about it now, maybe I should have put his sword on his back. While drawing I was also thinking of putting an ofuda in between his fingers, but I kept to my original vision of hand to hand combat. Man, Card Captor Sakura sure brings back memories.

Watamote has a lot of loveable characters, and Asuka was quick to become one of my favorites. When she was first introduced in chapter 106 I was a bit afraid that she would appear to be stuck up (when she saw Tomoko staring at her through the mirror). But she quickly proved herself to be rather nice and thoughtful. This was seen quite clearly in chapter 193 where she sacrifices herself in order to devour that ramen. I was debating whether to have her look prim and proper or disheveled and defeated after clearing some space… I went with the prim and proper idea.

I’ve been wanting to try Yoshitaka Amano’s style. When I was looking through my collection of references I decided to use one of Sayoko Yamaguchi.
This one: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/e7/98/cd/e798cdc7649e243b8ac5bc5bddfcaa21.jpg
Looking at the linework done in the reference paintings that I have of Yoshitaka’s art I believe he was using a brush to get the effect that some areas have (some are lighter, and some are darker). So with that in mind I watered the ink and passed over the areas I wished to darken twice. I wanna try working with this style more and at some point with color.
