"A Hopeless Dream Chaser"
I wanted to just draw a quick brush painting because I was looking at Yoshitaka Amano’s artwork. There were these pictures that Airi posted where she was dressed in a happi and wrote a small stage. It’s a really fun subject. Line size variation was a bit tough to control when the ink is too watered down. I guess using a smaller brush would quickly fix this, but I’ve seen other artists do a lot with just one brush. I’ll have to practice this a bit more.

I’ve been wanting to paint Sayu in this outfit ever since it was uploaded. She kind of reminds me of a Team Rocket member.
This is the second Microsoft Surface Pro 5 painting. This time around working with the surface felt a lot smoother. The next test will consist of me working in portrait mode. I know it works since I tried to see what would happen if I tilted the whole screen, although it did make Corel crash… I’ll have to play with it a bit more.

Happy Halloween everyone! Although by this time it’s pretty much already over. Hopefully you guys had a great time. Today also marks the last day of Inktober. I got out somewhat early today from my other job so I decided to make multiple drawings for this special day. I was having a hard time deciding who to draw for the last day and just decided that there was no reason to just choose one. So I made three instead. I was actually going to make five… but that was pushing it.
For today, I decided to draw Karin Miyamoto in a maid outfit (super cute), Airi in her Sailor Moon cosplay (I’ve been craving to draw her for such a long time now) and Momochi in the outfit she used for the 2016 NTV Halloween Live event.
Didn’t have time to hatch or ink them today but I at least managed to finish the line art.
In terms of Inktober anyway, see you guys next year. Hopefully you guys enjoyed my drawings this month.

During a special chapter of Watamote the results of the character popularity contest were released and everyone was dressed as an idol. Surprisingly Kii chan was ranked 17 (though with the amount of characters it makes sense) but on top of that she was dressed differently. Even in these special chapters the corrupted mind of Kii chan still exists. Tomoko’s influence is scary…
I’m guessing the style is based on BabyMetal, though it reminds me of Metal Gear for some reason. I dub this version of Kii chan as “Punished Kii chan”.
Not all the outfit was shown past the chest area so I had to make up the rest.

Today’s model is Miyabi Natsuyaki. I had a couple of reference pictures to choose from her instagram, but I decided on this one:
It feels like we the viewers are sitting across from Miyabi. That little smile makes my heart skip a beat.

Airi had a recent post where she had a really cute outfit. I just really wanted to draw her in it. The sweater has a lot of details which I wanted to draw. The colors are also really beautiful so I’m really looking forward to painting her sometime in the future.

While looking for references and ideas for yesterday’s drawing, I got reminded of what happened during Tomoko’s and Asuka’s first interaction. So thus this is today’s drawing.

Watamote has a lot of loveable characters, and Asuka was quick to become one of my favorites. When she was first introduced in chapter 106 I was a bit afraid that she would appear to be stuck up (when she saw Tomoko staring at her through the mirror). But she quickly proved herself to be rather nice and thoughtful. This was seen quite clearly in chapter 193 where she sacrifices herself in order to devour that ramen. I was debating whether to have her look prim and proper or disheveled and defeated after clearing some space… I went with the prim and proper idea.

I just saw Airi’s new music video, I love it. It is like a 60/70s scifi show. It was really fun and the song is just amazing. I really like the way Airi’s music has evolved into this fun and interesting style that sets her appart from other artists. And this new song was no exemption.

I forgot what chapter I last read so I decided to go back and re-read a couple of chapters. Among them was ch. 186.2 where Yuri is wearing a happi for their school festival stall. Something about seeing her squatting like a yanki looking bored was really aesthetic to me. In fact, there are a couple other Watamote ideas that sparked from me reading these chapters. I really won’t have any lack of drawing ideas.

For the fifth day I drew Momochi. I finally got to see parts of “Momo Play” (a dvd series where Momochi cosplays various outfits). Among them was one where Momochi cosplays as a maid which is just freakin cute. I just couldn’t resist drawing her. The reference used was from where she was walking down the stairs. I went for a manga look.
