This background will be part of a remake that I made back in 2019. Wow, that’s what in the range of 3-4 years… Time sure is flying.

It’s funny, now that my skills have gotten a bit better I have been going back to old art pieces and see what I can do with them now. And in Pixiv there is currently a contest where they want us to upload redo’s of old artwork to showcase one’s growth. Somehow this all came together at the same time. I’ll be uploading some more artwork throughout April.
Working with blues is still a bit tough for me so I want to do some more later this year.
As for this art piece, I edited the line art to change the proportions and angles. Once I had that edited I came up with the background so I could come up with the color theme of 2B.
I felt it would be a shame if I didn’t have a version without her blindfold.

Here’s a return of an old piece that I feel could be made better. For now this is the background.

Almost ran out of time today to post an update. Here is the background for the 2B drawing I recently edited.

I recently got to finally see Iron Blooded Orphans. It’s an amazing anime but really punches you in the gut with all the tragedies. It really shows the calamities that come from war and from pushing things too far without reason and the consequences that come from that. If for whatever reason you also haven’t seen it, give it a try. It’s well worth it. Just be prepared to tear up throughout.
On the other side of the coin, you have to admit that Gundams are freakin cool. And Barbatos has become one of my new favorite Gundams. The addition of his tail was such a cool touch. And the alaya-vijnana was such a great addition to the series. It was like Kaio Ken in Dragon Ball Z. What I like about this power ups is that they have limitations and repercussions when used. That makes their usage even more powerful and suspenseful. When I heard the name Barbatos I thought they meant barbarian which I feel fits Mikazuki Augus’s fighting style. But later my brother told me that was the name of a demon (the literal definition of the word barbatos is bearded by the way). Which would make sense why in season two they referred to him as a devil and his pointy chin design.
I wanted to see more of Barbatos in a snowy landscape, thus this painting. This might be the last winter painting for a while, now that we are coming into spring.

The first painting was after I edited the values and saturation. I’m never really fully satisfied after I finish painting so I always end up playing around with the editing. In the end I’m never really sure which way it looks best…
I really like her new single, hoping her the best.

Perhaps I will come back to it. But for now, here is Kuga and Replica.

line art:
https://darkcloudxero.com/2022/10/12/inktober-2022-12-jackie-chan/
Line art originally drawn for Inktober 2022 day 12. The original drawing wasn’t showing the movement and power of Jackie and Wei’s fight so I made some slight changes. Can you guys tell what they were?

I wasn’t too happy with the first version of my painting of Marin Kitagawa, it just didn’t pop. I wanted Marin to glow because of the sunlight coming from the window. Aside from that, I also added a couple of more details around the whole painting.
The original painting can be seen here:

The scene where Marin gets a chance to cook for Gojou was adorable.
For this painting I wanted to work with the highlights from the window.

They really put a lot of details with Marin’s measurements scene. The amount of movement in the animation is amazing. I really wanted to give this scene a try.
When I painted the background and Marin, I felt it was still a bit lacking. When Marin’s body and contours were to my liking, I started playing around with darker shadows and lighter areas to increase the contrast. When I was satisfied, I then added light beams coming from the window behind Marin. I did this with the sergeant brush then changed the layer to hard light.
I’m going to leave the painting as it is now, but I may come back to it at some point later.

I went for an 80s anime painting style this time. Doing simple colors can really pop, I need to practice in more simplistic coloring styles. I have a couple of artists that I can learn from. As for this specific drawing, I want to try painting it in my style as well. That will be a future project.
The original drawing was done for Inktober 2021 day 29. I remember that I really wanted to emphasize the more round designs that Toriyama used to use back in the days, a style that much prefer. The painting really helped emphasize the curves which I love.
Still annoyed that Lunch has been forgotten.
