Warm Mokocchi

One of the great things about inktober is that I get to a lot of line art that I can paint. I have lots to choose from, but lets start with Mokocchi sporting her makeover done by Asuka when they first interacted.

Winter Asuka

Just yesterday we had some more snow, although it very well might be the last one of the season. That inspired me to paint who I believe is Asuka from the teaser trailers. Those living in Japan know for sure. I wonder when we’ll get a chance to see it over here in the States. I wonder what the rest of he outfit looks like? Seems like she has some type of a backpack. I quite liked the breath animation so I decided to include it in my painting.

Airi Jacket

We are actually still getting snow where I live, so that inspired me to finally give this painting a try before the weather finally changes to a warmer one. I really love the colors of Airi in this cold weather and wanted to give it a try for a while now. It’s also been a while since I did a realistic painting so I opted to go for that. There are so many more photos I want to try painting so we’ll see when I get another chance.

This painting is based on Airi’s digital photobook vol. 92. I only used the real tapered wet flat brush for the whole piece. I like the brush but it can be hard to use because when I try to use the same paint color, I can’t quite get it back using the eyedrop tool since each bristle stroke is different and mixes together. I already have a number of paintings lined up where I kept trying out this brush and a new one that I believe is my new main brush, to be used with the oily bristle and tapered oils brush.

Work in Progress Background

Was having a bit of hard time coming up with something to paint or draw today, but I eventually did get an idea of what I could work on. But I will showcase that next week. For now here is the background. First time working on a wet reflective surface. Really want to learn how to do them in all mediums.

Goku vs Broly

About a week ago or so I got to see the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie in the theater. Out of all the Dragon Ball movies I have seen so far it is definitely my favorite. I didn’t really care much for Broly before (I mean sure he was strong and had cool powers but

┐( ̄ー ̄)┌ )

but I did like the way everything was connected with all the events up to this point. To think that someone stuck in one planet could have so much power to not only keep up with Super Saiyan blue but to far surpass it. Who knows how Broly would fare against ultra instinct but I’m guessing that they are setting things up to have Goku power up even further with Broly.

I liked that most of the fight with Broly was martial arts based, really hope they bring the focus on that again in the future. One other thing to note is that the artwork and painting was much better than not only the anime but also the last movies. The only complaint I have is the cg section which just didn’t look good and was really out of place when it happened. It was only for one section of the fight but it does make me wonder why they decided to so in the first place.
