Airi recently released some photos of her as a Santa that I found both cute and fun, so I had the idea of making a painting using that idea.
I’ve been working on this painting for a couple of days now. I first drew the line art with a combination of my brush and my g pen for Airi’s base body, not including her clothes. I did this because I feel I make clothes look to stiff with the pen. For the background I used a lighter mixture of my ink while Airi herself was inked using a more concentrated ink mixture.
Over the last couple of weeks I have been playing around with the shortcut keys I feel I need most to make paintings more efficiently. I’m really glad I did because it made the painting process flow much smoother. The painting was much brighter but I feel this darker amber atmosphere fits the scene a whole lot better.
Merry Christmas everyone, and Happy Holidays! I think I’m going to take a three day break and just chill for a while. Hope you guys have a great time.
As were getting closer to Christmas I felt that I should make some paintings to fit the season. At this point painting Fubuki and Tatsumaki has become somewhat a tradition so why not continue. I didn’t have a plan starting out but it eventually morphed into the sisters sitting in a staircase. I had the idea of having hats/ head pieces but decided to paint them at the end. This worked out well because I could have two versions, one wearing hats and one without.
That’s number two down. I might just be able to finish the third painting, but we’ll see. While Hina is having fun with her fantasy anime life coming to life, I can totally see Tamura being annoyed at seeing Hina get close to Tomoko and enjoying her passive aggressive tendencies.
Managed to finish this painting, although I wonder how the other ones will fare since today will be rather busy. Just in case though, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone. Hope you all have a great time. Please be safe during these days.
The second of the Christmas drawings I have inked in the countdown to Christmas. In a lot of ways, Hina’s wishes have been getting granted right before graduation huh? Good thing she decided to show her true self more.
One of the drawings I did in the countdown to Christmas this year. Who knows if I will be able to finish the painting process in time. Has been a while since I last did a Toho drawing, specially of Marisa. Didn’t have much of a plan so I just sketched and this is what came out.
I was a bit scared I wasn’t going to be able to make it this year, and to think I was thinking about making two pieces for today…
I am a bit surprised at how quick I was able to finish it in three days (I usually take a week). I was struggling deciding on the colors and the style I would use. When it comes to watercolors I really love Little Thunder‘s art style. I wanted to emulate it but I always end up doing it a bit different. I have to paint more so that it all becomes a natural process.
I tried making a quick painting of Fubuki and Tatsumaki before Christmas. I contemplated adding a background but I’m not so sure, I just want to have some days off and just rest and have fun. Plus I want to finish all Kingdom Hearts games before I go back to school and Kingdom Hearts III comes out. I’m just about to finish the first game I just need to power up and beat all the secret bosses.
Now as for the painting it self. I’ve been wanting to make a piece with Fubuki and Tatsumaki. I want to make some more in the future. I tried a style that has a decent amount of details but is also simplistic. I only used the hard brush.
I wasn’t too sure about their outfits but I went with of course Christmas themed ones. At one point I had the idea to have Fubuki dressed as Santa and Tatsumaki as an elve. Maybe next year. I do wonder if Fubuki would wear anything like this though. She seems to have a mature womanly taste when it comes to her clothes.
The finished painting:
The process (I’ll divide it into sections):
Fubuki Section –
Tatsumaki section –
Both together final touches –
Hope you guys have a great time during this holiday season, thank you for stopping by during the year.
