Momochi Hiding

Today I decided to paint using the Corel Painter real watercolors again. This time I decided to use different brush presets and they definitely act differently. But I guess that is to be expected. Looking at the end result, they give off that watercolor and Copic look. I used the inktober day 26 line art of Momochi’s last photobook. I wanted to emulate the coloring style of classic manga.

I really want to draw more of Momochi. Luckily the Country Girls dvd magazine has plenty of references of her interacting with the snow. And I really want to paint her in the red outfit from her last photobook. But before that, I want to make a New Year’s piece, I already have an idea so it’s just a matter of doing it.

Nemo’s Anime Christmas

That’s number two down. I might just be able to finish the third painting, but we’ll see.
While Hina is having fun with her fantasy anime life coming to life, I can totally see Tamura being annoyed at seeing Hina get close to Tomoko and enjoying her passive aggressive tendencies.

Marisa Christmas Magic Lineart

One of the drawings I did in the countdown to Christmas this year. Who knows if I will be able to finish the painting process in time. Has been a while since I last did a Toho drawing, specially of Marisa. Didn’t have much of a plan so I just sketched and this is what came out.

Rem and Ram Christmas 2020

Here is the painted version of this drawing. I’ve been watching Hilda lately and wanted to try out a muted, I would even say pastel colored painting style. I really liked the way it came out. Using only one type of color and multiply to make the shadows really speeds up the process of shading and leave a really uniform and clean look. No wonder people use it.
ReZero was great this season, was quite an emotional one. Specially after what had happened last season. Can’t wait till the second part of this season is finally released. In the meantime here is a happy break from all that suffering. They all deserve it.

Rem and Ram Christmas 2020 Lineart

Here is the start of a new painting for this year’s Christmas. I wonder how many I will be able to do before the 25th? It seems like I’m having less trouble just drawing what I have in mind so the process is much quicker. I actually had this thought last night before I went to sleep. Luckily I still remembered it today.

Was actually planning on painting it today but I had some obligations I had to do today so only the lineart will be done today.

Ryoga Umbrella watercolor

What I wanted to try out was Rumiko Takahashi’s classic style of painting. Looking at various artworks I decided to paint Ryoga in this way using only one color for each section of Ryoga and using only the saturation of the paint to make color and value variations. But only ever so slightly. But before I did paint it, I went over the rough draft with my mechanical pencil to darken and indent the paper. Once this was done I then erased the whole paper and painted with whatever graphite managed to survive and the indentations left behind. The effect wasn’t too bad, but it was obvious that I needed to add some type of outline. For this instance I decided to do that by using my Copic multiliner and a Stabilo pen for the darker areas.

Ryoga Umbrella line art rough draft Pencil

Decided to just do a quick drawing today. My plans are to probably paint it with watercolors. Although I might just paint it digitally at some point in the future as well, we’ll see. I didn’t really have any idea of what I wanted to draw really, but as I was sketching I came up with this drawing.
