Inktober 2021 Day 25

This one took a while, and it’s still not done. I remembered that in Pokemon there were three legendry’s that possesed the power of wind and thunder and a third one. I had done a bit of research at the time and learned that they were based on three Japanese Kami. Over the years I wanted to make a piece with Misaka and Kongo Mitsuko as Raijin and Fujin. After thinking a bit about Inari and learning that it’s the god of foxes, fertility and a bunch of other things plus it’s the leader of the three Kami I felt that Misaki Shokuhou would best fit this role. For various reasons. This drawing took a while since I couldn’t find readily available information about these three Kami and high resolution images of them. Then, the ones that were available came in so many variations that in the end I just decided to take some artistic liberty for some of the details.

Today’s model is Miyabi Natsuyaki. I had a couple of reference pictures to choose from her instagram, but I decided on this one:

It feels like we the viewers are sitting across from Miyabi. That little smile makes my heart skip a beat.

Inktober 2021 Day 22

While looking at references for the drawings I have done so far, I felt like drawing some Sailor Moon art since the fashion there is so iconic. This time I decided to draw the titular character. I wanted a warm outfit so I combined different clothes from my references. I liked the original pose of the model arranging her hair, but since Usagi has a very peculiar style I had to accommodate for that.

I was going to have Usagi’s eyes partially opened but I liked the way they looked closed, it gives her a serene thoughtful aesthetic.

Inktober 2021 Day 21

I really want more people to watch the original DragonBall. It’s such a great series. I’ve recently started rewatching some episodes and felt the urge to draw Bulma. I really love the more rounded eyes that Toriyama used to draw in his characters. In the more recent designs, they are more like windows while before they were somewhat shaped like real eyes but enlarged and exaggerated of course.

On another note, while writing this I just noticed that Bulma is always changing her style. In every story throughout the series she is wearing a new outfit and sometimes hairstyle. I’m surprised I never really noticed that.

Inktober 2021 Day 20

Today’s Pixiv theme is “hoodie”. The model this time is Hina Nemoto. I quite like her dynamic with Kuroki. Despite Kuroki’s scary ability to corrupt all people that come in contact with her, I feel that the opposite was true for Hina because she was able to show her true self and live out her anime dreams just before she graduates.

I was listening to Utada Hikaru all day today and of course “Colors” came up. I really like the aesthetic of the music video, it is a great song to listen to in the autumn season.

Inktober 2021 Day 18

I don’t think I’ve ever drawn a Gunbuster piece before. Strange because I love that OVA. I was considering drawing Noriko in her trademark cross arm pose but decided to make a joint post for both inktober and Pixiv’s theme for today (Ginkgo Biloba), and that also fits with the autumn season. I’ll make that pose drawing at some point in the future.

Inktober 2021 Day 17

I wanted to do a more frightening piece today since we are getting closer to Halloween. I was listening to the original Dragon Ball ost and remembered King Piccolo. It’s funny to remember that Piccolo was once an enemy and a scary one at that. He’s definitely one of my favorite villains in the series and truly love his more menacing facial features. What I like about King Piccolo. is that he is essentially the devil who has magical powers and self reproductive capabilities that create new life forms and also regrow lost limbs. And to top it all off, he is also a master of martial arts… If you guys ever get a chance, see the fight between him and Goku. It’s such an amazing one filled with martial arts and satisfying moments.

Inktober 2021 Day 15

Watamote has a lot of loveable characters, and Asuka was quick to become one of my favorites. When she was first introduced in chapter 106 I was a bit afraid that she would appear to be stuck up (when she saw Tomoko staring at her through the mirror). But she quickly proved herself to be rather nice and thoughtful. This was seen quite clearly in chapter 193 where she sacrifices herself in order to devour that ramen. I was debating whether to have her look prim and proper or disheveled and defeated after clearing some space… I went with the prim and proper idea.
