Inktober 2022 06 Lynn Minmay

Day 6 of Inktober. This time I decided to draw Lynn Minmay. I saw this cute photo of Akina Nakmori talking in the phone that I thought would work very well. This time I decided to to add more hatching. For the hair I decided to follow the flow of the hair while for the jacket I decided to go for a more stylized hatching technique.

Everything was going well, but I did mess up twice this time. The maru pen got stuck and sent droplets of ink all around the left top corner of the drawing and then I touched the ink and smudged on the right hand sleeve. I uploaded a cleaned up version, but in the spirit of inktober I have also uploaded the original version as well.

Inktober 2022 05 Shizuku Kuroe lineart

Didn’t get to hatch this drawing or ink it (although I did start hatching the eyes and eyebrows by accident) but here is today’s drawing. This time I chose to draw Marin Kitagawa as Shizuku Kuroe.

Inktober 2022 04 Goku lineart

For day 4 I have decided to draw Goku. There was the meme of Goku in his drip which I thought was hilarious. I could care less of the Supreme brand, but what was fun about Toriyama was that artwork often showcased the Dragon Ball characters in trendy outfits. I always loved seeing Goku in different outfits. I think the most recent example in current Dragon Ball was the snow outfit used in the Dragon Ball Super Broly movie.

This time I decided to make Goku’s hair slightly less triangular, I guess making it somewhat soft. I also wanted to try out a different eye design. I finally got the chance to hatch for this drawing. But maybe I should play around with thinner lines next time I do a simple hatching technique.

Kaneda Slide- NOPE

NOPE, I loved this film. I had seen a teaser trailer this one time I went to see a movie in the theater and decided to not watch any more info on it until I went to see it. I’m so glad I did. What was fun was the dissecting of the film afterword. There is just so much going on that makes it so much better and leaves a lasting impact. On top of that, there were many nods and references to a lot of popular media that I love. Including Anime. The two biggest influences being Evangelion and of course Akira. Of course the motorcycle is electric, of course they show the electric meters with the speed and to my amazement in the theater. Of course we see the Kaneda Slide. That brought such a big smile when it happened. Ooof…

Which is why I decided to make it my first piece for NOPE. Looking at the scene where Keke slides, there is a lot of smoke obscuring her feet and the tires. Most likely to hide the rig used to create the motion? So I used the posture and feet placement of Akira’s scene as reference. Getting the bottom of the tires was a bit annoying since I had to make up a lot of the details using references from the Energica SS9 that I found online. I debated whether to have some sparks coming from the front wheel or not, but I felt it was a good touch to better reference Akira.

Inktober 2022 01 Momochi hiking lineart

October is finally here, and with that also comes Inktober. For the first day I decided to draw Momochi. There is a picture of her in hiking gear.

Reina Tanaka Fall Bazooka

WordPress was not working yesterday so this post is a day late.

I saw a video of Reina showing some behind the scenes of a photoshoot where she was firing a bazooka with confetti that I thought looked fun. I had started drawing this quite a while ago but I got a bit busy and was left unfinished. By the time I got back to it, we had already entered Autumn. Maybe that was for the best, because that gave me the idea to make it a leave bazooka. Helping bring in the Fall season. From what I had before I resumed working on it, I still hadn’t started working on the outfit that Reina was wearing. Which has more summer vibes. Again, I preferred the way the outfit looked like it was a black dress that I felt fit the fall season more.

Kimono Muscle Girl drawing 3 inked

I’m finally uploading the inked version of the third Michiko Nishiwaki drawing. Looking at it now I feel the hatching looks a bit messy. I’ll have to study why that is before October starts.

Beginning of Autumn Fukuda Kanon

We are now officially in the Autumn season! To commemorate this, I decided to paint Fukuda Kanon. I really like her current Aesthetics. Her eyes are seriously beautiful. So I really wanted to convey that. I was contemplating whether to use the dress I painted or use a different outfit. But I seriously liked the design so ended up using it. If I could redo it again, I would have mismatched the segments like the real one. I think it has more character that way. For the compositiion of this painting I remembered I could make my life easier by photoshoping ideas together. This made it so much easier to have an idea of what I wanted.

I wonder if her collaboration group with Tamura Meimi will actually ever happen? It’s been a bit over a year since it was announced.

I will obviously paint Kanon again, there is this t shirt that Metamuse has recently released and Kanon looks so beautiful in it.

I have so many ideas I want to paint… I might have to upload three times a week. We’ll see.

Summer Stroll Momochi

Finally, we are in the tail end of the summer, there’s only three more days before we finally enter the fall season! Heck yeah! I like this outfit that Momochi used in her “Off Momochi in Okinawa” blu ray. I think it really fits the lowering temps. I made two versions, a more realistic version and an anime version where I simplified certain aspects of the face and enlarging the eyes. Using outlines helps make people pop out, but I wanted to see if I could make it look good without them.
