Inktober 2023 Day 7 Marin Kitagawa

I’m currently drawing on small pieces of paper that are 6″ x 8″ . I kinda wanted some of the folds in Marin’s clothes to be thinner, but working with my current paper has trouble with my maru pen. It digs in and has trouble releasing the ink like I want it to, despite making the ink consistency just like I want it. I used my g pen to make certain areas thicker to try and give a contrast. But I think it only helped a little. Maybe I should use a higher quality paper to try working with the line thickness I can get with my maru pen.

Inktober 2023 Day 3 Psychics Saiki, Anya, Kanaka

Although I have heard of it before, I started watching Saiki K. It’s just as funny as he described it. The amount of gags deployed in one episode is incredible. This influenced today’s drawing made up of psychic users who can use telepathy. Although I just realized there was someone else I could have included amongst the group, Yakumo Tsukamoto. Perhaps that will be a future drawing for this inktober.

On another note, I want an official translation of Kanakana, a group fan translated 3 chapters but there hasn’t been an update despite that manga still being active.

Inktober 2023 Day 01 Karin Maaka

October and Inktober has arrived once again. I have some ideas of what I want to try drawing this year, but as for what the first drawing would be I couldn’t really come up with an idea. Looking through my references and trying to find this cosplayer that I forgot the name of, I came upon another account that reminded me of Karin from Karin or as we know it here in the states, Chibi Vampire. I really want to re read the series this month. It’s been a while since I have done traditional work. But when it comes to drawing, it definitely is much more natural and easier for me to do it traditionally. I wanted to use some hatching on this drawing but I forgot that my maru pen worked really poorly with the paper I used. I’ll have to have that in mind for future drawings.

Inktober 2022 31 Yura Final

Day 31, it’s over! I need a break… Inktober 2022 has truly been something. I felt a power up this year. I’m pretty sure I can do 3-4 drawings a day. Inking and painting of course not included. I wanted to make sure I inked today’s drawing, since it’s the last one. I’m not sure which drawing took longer to ink, Meimi’s or Yura’s.

I chose Yura because my brother finally gave Inuyasha a chance. When I saw Yura, a bunch of memories began flooding back. I used to have such a crush on her, sad she got killed right at the start.

I actually had another drawing ready of Angerme sketched out and ready to be inked. I had the bright idea to make three drawings today, but I guess I was a little burned out and wasn’t working fast enough. Yura was a last minute idea that I had to plan out, sketch and ink all in the same day.

Another year, another Inktobber fully completed. Till next year Inktober.

Inktober 2022 30 Meimi Tamura Birthday

Day 30. Today is Meimi Tamura’s birthday! Well it was yesterday if we go by Japan time. To commemorate the occasion I drew Meimi. I have really been into her music lately. I really hope she continues to produce more music. In some of her Instagram posts she has been talking about fairies, thus today’s theme. I was short on time again, but I felt that it wouldn’t be good to upload the drawing as only the line art. So I pushed it rather close to midnight today in order to add line details and inking. There is a lot of detail so I hope that Meimi and the fairy are visible and stand out.

Inktober 2022 29 Misaka and Misaki

Day 29. We’re getting really close to the end of this year’s Inktober. Didn’t have much time today to ink it since I was still figuring out the outfits. I was thinking of having Misaka and Misaki in Halloween costumes. So at first I was thinking mosnters, but in the end I decided upon Red Ridinghood and Alice from Alice in Wonderland.

Inktober 2022 28 Marin and Gojo

Day 28. Marin’s bunny girl costume and Gojo’s Bunny costume were a fun match. Gojo getting one step closer to accepting himself and getting over his past trauma was a nice step towards his development.

As for this drawing, in some of my references of Momochi I found some that had her with the same bunny costume that I thought would be fun to draw. That bunny costume has been a staple of Hello Project. I remember laughing every time the bunny appeared during the rollercoaster ad segments.

Inktober 2022 27 Kanon Fukuda

Day 27. Today’s drawing is of the Angerme collaboration with Sally the Witch. I haven’t seen the anime but I have seen the opening when I listened to a 90s anime opening playlist on Youtube. I started checking out Angerme’s music this year and was surprised to find out they sung the opening. It’s such a cute video. I could have drawn any member but decided to draw Kanon Fukuda. Her ending scene was super adorable.

I made two versions, one in my style and the other emulating the Sally anime.
